If our trip is cancelled for any reason I will be there. Otherwise I will continue moderating when I have coverage. I think Birdsville does but not sure about places  like Marree. I don't think they do.
If you get a small enough map, Melbourne is really a very short distance from Birdsville / Marree ... just a hop, skip and a jump for a seasoned traveller like you!

. . . . and using that microscopic map, Cookie, you could travel the distance in no time at all in your new motorhome!!
20 tons - max speed I believe is around 150 k/h ;D ;D  The mind boggles to imagine the damage you could do to Chookie's front door if you arrived full speed ahead . . . ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Cookie, I have been to Marree for work once, and they had "patchy" coverage there with Telstra.  Be a little careful of the hotel  ........... lots of rats when I was there  :o :o
Yes Cookie,  don't think you should go there,   No rats here.  ;D ;D

I wouldn't be going there Cookie. Only chickens at Chookie's  ;D

Wow, that is certainly luxury on wheels. Certainly not for the Birdsville and Streszlecki tracks. I'd have to be always cleaning.

DH will have a lovely chuckle about the small map. Look out Chookie's chook house!

Urk rats, I will be safely tucked up in my little bed on the back of the hilux. If I see any rats I will pull the ladder up!
Karen thanks for the phone info, I have telstra.

Don't know if you know Melbourne, but try to book accommodation on one of the "Little" streets, i.e. Little Bourke, Little Collins, etc as the trams don't travel along those streets so it should be quieter.

Michele,  how exciting.   ;D. We usually stay at the Clock Tower, these are apartments,  in Carlton,  when we stay in Melb.  Don't know a lot about city hotels.  We also checkout on Wotif  for accom. In other places,  and then ring the hotel direct.  Should get the same or better deal.
You will be able to fill up with Afternoon tea or early Dinner before you leave Cherokee,  if you like.

Mich we stay at the Swanston. I think it is called Mercure on Swanston. It's nice and not too expensive. Right in the middle of the city. They have a slightly cheaper part that used to be called The Welcome hotel. The rooms are small there but clean etc. that is in Little Bourke st.

Cookie, this is the main street in Maree.  I think Chookies is a far more attractive option  ;D ;D
