TMX & Sticky Rice Recipe
« on: April 13, 2011, 06:19:24 am »
Hello to you all once again, you are all so very helpful and I thank you.
I have another question...................

I would love to know if it's possible to steam Sticky Rice in the  *: or Varoma. Anyone tried this.

It's usually soaked a few hours or overnight and steamed in a bamboo steamer basket but I just thought how good it would be to do it in the  *:

After soaking it for an hour or overnight and adding salt you could put it in the Varoma lined with baking paper or banana leaves (even better) and steam for 30min and will become translucent when done.  ;)

:-* Thanks NayNay you made it seem so simple. I especially like the banana leaf idea. I'll give it a go.

I tried sticky rice today.
I spread soaked glutinous rice in the Varoma basket without parchment paper or banana leaves (didn't even think of using a lining) and half-filled the TM bowl with boiling water from the kettle, added some salt and set it to speed 1, Varoma temperature, 15 minutes.
It was my first go at sticky rice and turned out pretty good.
I'll try to wrap it in a banana leaf next time, and steam it a little longer.
