Has anyone been rewarding themselves in other areas eg. shoes, clothes, etc with the money they have saved on food?  ;)

CP, I have anything I want (mind you I am not an 'I want, I want' type of girl at my age so I don't go silly) - cutting down on housekeeping does allow you that luxury and if you halve your grocery shopping for a full year, think of how much play money you have.

Halex, I've looked at Aussie Farmers but they don't deliver in my area yet.   I was surprised that W delivered in my area, that's why I looked into it.  Great to use online shopping especially if it's a busy week or kids/me are sick and we can't get to the shops, but have decided not to use it on a regular basis.

At the moment, my kids save me money, being so little they only tolerate short shopping trips, so it is in and out quickly.

CP, my reward will be a holiday for my family.
I have set up a bank account for that.

I am putting my savings (not that much really) into a slush fund so I can have extra for WA weekend.
I don't really need too, but it's fun.

It does seem more fun when you don't really need to Michele  ;)

Yes, it is Judy.
I remember when the children were little and it was necessity. Not much joy in it then.

I looked into online shopping and found the prices more expensive than in the actual supermarket.  Some items up to $1.10 more expensive.  All the basic items were about the same, milk and bread, but apart from that generally they were more expensive.

That's unusual. The price I pay is the same as in-store.  I find that I save heaps of money not entering the supermarket and being tempted to buy extras.  My online shopping is super quick now as I have my list of regular items saved and I just go down through the list and click quantities. Too easy.  :)

Wouldn't everything just be so much easier if money grew on trees like apples? :-)) :D

I'll start the challenge tomorrow as I usually shop on Tuesday's. We're going away for the weekend with friends and I still don't know if we're meant to bring anything, so will be interesting! Shopping list so far is pretty short, will try to stick to it. I don't really menu plan - I usually plan 2-3 meals a week then just wing it for the rest of the week, plus we usually go out 1 night. This week planning on Mac & cheese, chicken cacciatore & maybe lasagna or a soup. Rest will be from the freezer.

Lol, you're ahead of me already Robyn. I don't even have an apple tree :'( Or a lemon tree... :-))

But if I discover the secret to growing money trees, I'll definitely let you in on it :D :D

Well I've just found out that I have to provide an antipasto platter for our weekend away with friends - easy, but expensive! I already have sundried tomatoes, goats cheese, caramelised onions and I can make dips pretty cheaply.... but I'll need to hit the deli counter and that's gonna be a killer! Need olives, salami, prosciutto and other assorted goodies for 17 people including kids - there goes my budget!  :) I'll let you know how I get on....
