They did, they were still in date. Usually there is muffins, a slice or cake so I suppose it was a shock for them.

About to go shopping, and have menu planned for the week. Visitors for 3/4 days

Sat roast chicken and vegies
Sun beef pot roast and vegies in PC
Monday Pumpkin. Feta and bacon risotto
Tuesday Chookies Bacon and vegie Quiche
Wednesday prob leftovers
Thursday Nico's Thai Chicken Chill
Friday Lamb Chilli Con Carni

Lunches, pumpkin soup or quinoa salad
Desserts banana and raspberry icecream - just whipped together, nothing added

Breakfasts either porridge, Amy's hot chocolate smoothie or Quirky Jo's Fermented waffles, served with yogurt and berries

Have not spent anything this week, have been away. I made a soup today and used all the vegies we have left and one tin of beans. Only meat I have is the roast. Nothing else left.

Will see what I spend...

They last 3 weeks mum has been here and I only seemed to grocery shop 1 day in the whole 3 weeks - that was the $111.11 I spent and posted. We went out for a few meals and I think mum must have done some groceries sometime because my tin shelf has suddenly got chockers again, and there were brought chicken nuggets  :o (3 pkts) in the freezer along with some other things I didn't buy or even know about....and they were on the top too, not like they were buried and I didn't know!!  Also found extra stuff in the other shelves of the pantry and in the fridge!  :)  But I am right out of brown sugar, & white sugar, and nearly out of flour .... hope I can stay under budget next week too!  :)

My shopping came to $111.76 today that included everything, soap, washing powder etc. way under the budget I set for us.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

It's an addiction Katie, the more you have the more you want.  I must be doing something right as I have never had that many in one year before - I should be able to sneak a few more in before the year is up.

I agree!
I didn't get to the supermarket today as I got a call from school to pick up my (not so as it turns out) sick DS at lunch time. This weekend is busy, so I will try not to go to the supermarket this week, although I will go to the mArket on Sunday. This week I have come spot on budget $135. I managed to stretch my 2 bargain crooks for 4 meals. That should read CHOOKS.
I have no tinned tomatoes left, but so have some jArs of tomato pasta sauce which will just have to do.

JD, that's is incredible. Eighth week this year!

Well, we spent $142 - way over budget, but I am including meats in my total and this is for this week and next week. Perhaps, its not as bad as i thought. I have a good range of veggies again. I have carefully stored them, so will not need as many next week. Haven't the prices sky rocketted :(

Ok, I've been doing this for 7 weeks now, and I haven't bought one tin of tomatoes or 1 packet of pasta. I made my version of pasta carbonara tonight and had to use small macaroni instead of my favourite orrichette. It still tasted good, but I think that I only have spaghetti and fettuccine in the cupboard left. Can I cope without buying other types of pasta ?
