Chit Chat / I've been a stranger..
« on: November 16, 2011, 09:10:19 am »
I've missed this place. Haven't logged in for ages & can see I've missed a lot of goings-on.

The past few weeks I've been been busier than I can remember ever being. Last night was my 6th demo in a row!! That's a first for me & I'm so excited :D (but just quietly - a little bit exhausted at the same time!).  My poor children (3 & 6 year olds) have been saying "are you out again Mum?! Ohhh not another demo!".. so that's it for this week, 'cause now I'm busy organising my husband's 40th at our house this weekend - for 50 people (20 of those are children under 9!! Aaarrrgghhh!!  :o)

So anyway, I just wanted to pop in & see what's been happening & say Hi.

I guess this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find an answer (perhaps it's a silly question)..

How long would my batch of Orange Marmalade Jam last in the fridge?? I made it almost 2 weeks ago  ???

Thanks all,

Chit Chat / 1 Hour Presentation - Help please?
« on: May 19, 2011, 11:53:19 am »
I have a great opportunity to present to potentially 10-20 people a short TMX presentation - for 1 hour only.

I don't want to do the same format or dishes as a normal demo (as I'm hoping that from this presentation I might get a few demo bookings).

Can I be cheeky & ask for your help??...

What do you think are the best 3 dishes that are quick, effective, delicious, require minimal/basic washing (as there is only a tiny sink), & show the most of the TMX - in the space of an hour.

One suggestion was the Grapefruit/Ginger/Pineapple Juice (EDC) ** CADA with yoghurt (Cindi's) ** Pumpkin Soup (EDC)

I made the juice today & didn't love it - but I'm only one person - maybe most people really like it???

Am planning on pre-making a gluten free bread to serve.. Plus have samples of dukkah, washing powder and jam for guests to take home.

Thoughts please ??  :)

Chit Chat / It still amazes me..
« on: May 14, 2011, 06:44:47 am »
this "gadget".. Seriously, I am still amazed and tickled pink every time I used it.. After 7 months.

Love it, love it, love it to pieces. Love it!!!

Absolutely obsessed. Think everyone in the world should have one and can't understand why every single person isn't as awestruck by it as me  :D

THE best thing I've ever bought in my life. Almost the best thing in my life, but I s'pose husband & children should come before it  :-\

Just sayin'

Suggestions and Complaints / Where's the Wallaby?!
« on: February 11, 2011, 01:30:57 am »
Has anyone else found that Coles are no longer stocking Wallaby Bakers Flour?

Both my GL & I have had problems at our separate supermarkets.

What's the alternative? I know someone out there will have a suggestion  ;)

Thanks,
Karen

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Thelma on a Plane
« on: January 20, 2011, 03:46:12 am »
Can anyone tell me if there would be any problems with taking Thelma on a plane interstate..? ie - I'm not at all keen on checking it in. Do you think I could get away with "Carry-on" or is it/the carry bag too big?? Of course I'd take the blade out & put that in a suitcase - but my main issue is whether it would be classified as too big for carry-on?

I'm flying both Virgin Blue & Jet Star. Anyone taken their TMX away ? Suggestions ?

Thanks :)

Chit Chat / Help please - Mash Potatoes
« on: September 28, 2010, 05:46:48 am »
Hi, can someone help please..

I've made mashed potatoes twice now & they've turned out beautifully, but.. they've left a "scorch" brown mark on the base of the TM bowl, which I can't get off with normal cleaning, using the brush.

I have to do a full clean with vinegar & a bit of dishwashing liquid & "cook" it for a while... And still then scrub it with the brush.

What am I doing wrong? .. I thought maybe the first time I overcooked them, but last night it happened again & there's no way they were overcooked. I use Physical No Fat Milk - could that be it? Should I use full cream?

Any tips??

Many thanks

Chit Chat / Profiteroles!
« on: September 19, 2010, 06:50:52 am »
I made profiteroles yesterday!!!!! using CP63's recipe (thanks again for the link JD!). And they worked - & they taste really good!

None of you can possibly comprehend just how unusual & out of character this is for me. I have zero confidence with cooking. I dislike it immensely, but the reality is, as with most of you, it has to be done, but it's always been such a chore :( ..

And that's what led me to finally buy a TM. I love how it measures! I love how it will cook & stir on its own! I love how simple it is to use! I love how the cleaning up is so minimal. I love how it can make what I normally wouldn't even attempt, achievable.

Now I feel passionate & have more confidence to try to cook things. It's really, really great

Ok, ok, I feel like an evangelist! Enough!!  ;D

Chit Chat / I love it!
« on: September 16, 2010, 06:28:52 am »
Well I've had my Thermomix for 2 days and I'm in love, even though I haven't had great success, I'm still in love!

On Tuesday night I made Lemon & Mandarin Sorbet. Yesterday, I made Bread with Baby Spinach & 3 Cheeses, Flourless Chocolate Cake and the Marinade for the Sticky Pork Spare Ribs. And today I've made Ice Cream. The cake is divine. The bread I'm not sure about & the Spare Ribs not great.. Still waiting for Ice Cream to freeze!

But.. Still loving it! Tonight is my official "delivery demo" and I can't wait.. I have become a woman who disliked cooking immensely, had no confidence or creativity to someone who has actually had fun in the kitchen & is looking forward to making profiteroles, something I would never have attempted in my wildest dreams! Unbelievable! :)

Introduce Yourself / A Thermomix Virgin
« on: September 11, 2010, 01:00:41 pm »
Hi everyone,

Thought I'd join & see what I can learn. I'm getting my LS (Lifesaver) next week & cannot wait. Have commented to my friends that I don't think I've been this excited about anything since finding out I was pregnant with my 2 children  :D

Cheers,
