Date Confectionary
« on: September 03, 2009, 10:19:53 pm »
These are healthy sweets, taken from a German thermomix Christmas booklet published in 2000, for TM21.  As I don't want to make them for Christmas, but just 'sometime' I didn't want to put them in the Christmas section.  But we don't have a sweets section.  So I decided to liberally interpret the 'cake' thread as being 'cake and sweet things'  ;D

50g sugar
250g dates
50g hazelnuts
50g cornflakes
50g soft butter
4 tblsp honey
1-2 tblsp lemon juice

c 40 hazelnut pieces.

1.  Put the sugar in the bowl and 20 sec / turbo.  Set aside and reserve for later.

2.  Add the dates, cornflakes and hazelnuts into the bowl.  45 secs / 8 , using the spatula to assist

3.  Add butter, honey and lemon juice.  c20 sec / 6

4.  Using a teaspoon, scoop out small balls, and roll them in the icing sugar, then decorate with hazelnut pieces.

5.  Leave the balls to dry for about 5 hours.
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

Thanks again Caroline - is the future Bimbette causing cravings for strange foods??

These old German booklets had some great recipes.  :-*
