Help with a My Way of Cooking Recipe - Polish Cheesecake
« on: September 27, 2012, 06:28:02 am »
Hi,

I hope someone can help me with this.  It states to use 2 packets of custard powder.  I thought that this might be the sachets of Dr Oeckters, however this is no longer in existence.  Can anyone help as to what I should use.

Thank you

Thank you ladies for this, it is a great help.  I was wondering if quark is so expensive whether you could use ricotta instead, because that is a curd cheese?

Many thanks
Glenric

I can't see why not Glenric - i'ts an expensive dish to make using Quark but it makes lots of serves.  Give it a go and let us know what you think.

We made this a few times during my tenure in HO and yes you can use a well drained ricotta, and just use some corn flour in place of the custard powder sachets, and some added vanilla to do the trick. It is just to help ‘set’ the cake. So about 40g is plenty.

Enjoy! It is totally delicious. (Actually used to add some lemon zest as well from memory!)  ;D
