Chit Chat / Re: Cheeky Request ...

I'm not sure why MJ. I use Evernote for all my recipes and don't need to be connected to the net to see what I have in there. Only need to be connected for it to sync.

I want to make this one this week but don't have crio bru. I read somewhere that it could be substituted but can't remember what with. I need to have 170g brewed crio bru liquid and 2 tbsp crio bru granules. Any suggestions?

Chit Chat / Re: Is anyone watching Masterchef?
« on: May 12, 2012, 02:15:24 am »
Haven't seen the first few episodes as we just flew back in from a holiday in Fiji. Watched some of the show last night but fell asleep (had been up since 2.30am travelling home). I will watch it from now on as I can't help myself when it comes to cooking shows.

Can you use the words low fat and brownies in the same sentence? Must try this one, thanks for posting.  ;D ;D

Does it count if you make roast chicken and then keep the skin and carcass to make tenina's stock powder which you then use in other meals?????? This stretches a long long way. Not exactly a meal though. Ha ha.

Thanks for the info Wonder. Great to know about the differences between them. Based on this I think I will go for the New Wave too. I'm in Central Qld so will need to mail order as no-one in town has the Breville let alone the New Wave. Is the stainless steel insert instead of the non-stick or as well as?

We had lamb curry cooked in the PC  - first meal from the PC and it was a huge success. I had bought a small leg of lamb and took the bone out, the meat fell apart after 40 mins and the dog loved the bone which still had quite a bit of meat on it. Probably cooked for a little long but wasn't following a recipe and guessed on the time.

You seem to have worked out your earlier problems with the PC Wonder. I am looking to replace my slow cooker and rice cooker with one machine and would like a PC too. After reading your previous posts I was a little concerned about having a similar experience. Still haven't decided between the Breville and the New Wave. Can't seem to find much in the way of differences other than price and local availability.

Chit Chat / Re: Freeze cottage and ricotta cheese mix?

I have frozen something similar and reheated successfully. On one occasion I found that when reheated it seemed to want to curdle/split so I gave it a quick zap in the TMX and all was fine.

I ended up making Faffa's Roasted Pumpkin and Fetta Risotto. Well I wanted a stand-out recipe and this is definitely it. I roasted the pumpkin with some sprigs of rosemary and added some pre-cooked diced chicken and pine nuts as well. It was delicious served with garlic bread and freshly made lemonade. Will definitely make again and will add to my list of dinner party recipes.

I don't know if I would call what Heston does "cooking". It's so much more and really is something to see. His knowledge of the make up of foods and how they react to other elements such as heat is amazing.

BTW has anyone eaten in one of his restaurants? It's my dream to eat at The Fat Duck.

Having friends for lunch today and was planning on the garlic prawn risotto but just found out that neither are that fussed on seafood. I think that a risotto would still be the best idea but was looking for a bit of a "stand out" recipe. Any suggestions for a good risotto recipe for entertaining?

Chit Chat / Re: Food Magazine Subscriptions

I think I'll do the same too. No need to spend money when it's there for free. Might have some problems walking past the Christmas issues like JD but will try hard. I am trying to cut down on books that we buy and have been trying to talk DH into a kindle or Ipad for that reason. I usually buy a Lonely Planet guide for each country that we visit but did borrow one from the library recently instead of buying one for a short trip.

Is the cost for online subscription for mags the same as the hard copes?
