Nice, I don't think I would manage that much just pottering around the house. I don't do as much house stuff as I should and tend to collapse on the sofa. You probably did steal some of my steps the other day :)

That said my walking has been fine, went a little overboard yesterday and my morning walk ended up being 12.7km. By the end of the day I was on 26k steps, and 20.17km walked. Which was enough to get my my 500km badge and also my 50 flights of stairs in one day badge. Taking it slightly easier today and only walked about 6km.

@Doverjess I would never imagine a dog would eat pears, but then I wouldn't imagine the dog to eat a pair of glasses either which a friends puppy apparently did on Sunday. (Dog appears to be okay thankfully)

I have an app on my phone called "mapmyrun" although I never run anywhere :D :D I find it useful to see how far I walk with Chance.

I use Runkeeper for the same sort of thing but I don't run either. I just use it for the audio cues every 5 minutes to get a sense of pace, time and distance. I tried MapMyRun but didn't like it, bought WalkJogRun the other day for its route creation feature so I can get a quick feel for how long a route might take me if I took it.

Total Lost so far: 4.6kg (started 87.6)

2013/09/18 -- 83.0kg -- -0.2kg
2013/09/11 -- 83.2kg -- -0.7kg

A week of flitting between 82.9 and 83.1, I'd probably have been a little lower today had I not gone to bed at 1:30am and only got 5 hours sleep. Still, annoying considering the 1k calorie deficit. Though TrendWeight.com & HackersDiet calculate my deficit, based on weight, as only -600 to -700

TrendWeight.com says 83.7kg & HackersDiet says 83.6. Both plot your weight with a form of weighted running average.

Seems like the thread needs a good bumping.

Today is the lowest amount of steps that I've taken since getting a Fitbit. I managed a paltry 1269 steps. The second lowest I've managed was 3200, everything else has been above 10k.

I think we can mark today as a lazy day :)

Tarasis, sorry I'm not that great at navigating fitbit, and not sure where to find you!!  But THIS is me  ;D

Nope no need to apologise, I mistakenly thought there was an easy way to invite by knowing user ids but I was wrong :/ it's either via Facebook, email address or as you've done posting you public page. So invite sent :)

For anyone else THIS is me.

Congrats Jo, 500KM is a long old way :) My most recent lifetime distance is 448.13km, though I know its a bit higher due to Fitbit not measuring the same distance as Runkeeper. (Like today there is about 1-1.3km discrepancy between Runkeeper & Fitbit)

Do you, or anyone else, want to friend on Fitbit for encouragement/competition? I'm tarasis over there.

Just done a 11.67km walk after dropping DD at school and finally had some breakfast. Was about 4 hours after walking up before I actually eat breakfast. Wasn't hungry while walking :)

Since I got the Fitbit on the 6th of August I've walked over 362km. At the moment with walking my daughter to school and back its easy for me to hit or get close to the recommended 10k steps, without doing an additional walking but most days I go out for an additional hour walk.

I drop DD off at 7:45ish and then walk for hour ending at home, though a few times now I've gone for 90 minutes to 2 hours (60 mins is roughly 5-7km depending on speed, 90ms was roughly 8.7km and 2 hours was 12.85km). However I imagine this will all start to drop off over the coming months as it gets colder and snow starts to fall. Then I'll need to find another way to get the walking in, possibly the gym but its expensive if I only want to go there for walking for 4-5 months in a year.

That said, rain has already scuppered me a couple of times though I went out on Sunday, got wet after 10 minutes, came home and into different rain gear before going out again for another 35 minutes :)

Quite possible Obbie, I haven't really been tracking body fat. I have to use a different scales to do so, which my wife doesn't want out for the kids to use, so it tends to live in its box. When I did it the other week I had 27.7% body fat

Surprised I went down at all this week, I actually spent most days (i.e 5-10) flitting around 83.9-84.1 and then suddenly yesterday and today I was 83.2. Go figure. According to Trendweight / Hackers Diet websites, my trend weight is actually 84.2 at the moment.

I don't mind the calorie counting as it keeps me honest, and gives me an idea of how bad/good some of the recipes I use are. Doesn't stop me eating those things but makes me exchange out something else or go for an extra long walk.

If anyone want to add me THIS is me.

Down 1.1kg (or 1.5kg)

Total Lost so far: 3.7kg (started 87.6)

2013/09/04 -- 83.9kg -- -1.1kg
2013/08/28 -- 85.0kg -- -0.2kg

Thanks Den and also Cookie. Since posting the weight has dropped off the last couple of days.

As to the down 1.1 or 1.5, well when I weighed myself this am (6:30am) I was 83.9, however when I got back from taking Mareike to school & going for a walk I was down to 83.5. Wasn't sure which to go with as other days my weight has been the same pre-post walk in the morning.

Really really want this to keep going at that rate so that come October 10th (my wedding anniversary) I'm down to 80kg. Unlikely but I'm hopeful :)

Apologies it's taken so long to actually respond back to my own thread. My bad, I got swept up with having guests for pretty much all of August that I lost track.

I will update this later to respond to individual points, I'm using Tapatalk and at the pool so can't easily see other posts

I did get a Fitbit One on the 6th of August and I've been using it actively ever since. I've already got my 250km badge and a bit over that now, thanks in part to walking my daughter to school and back (that's an easy 7.2km a day) but that will ease off in a bit when she gets comfortable and wants to go/ come back alone. Most days I have been doing 5-8km extra as well, making a point of going out to do that. On the whole it is going well, my shins/feet/calves/back of knees have going through their share of pain.

I am using Fitbit, Runkeeper and MyFitnessPal to keep a track of everything and have started using the Fitbits projection of the Calories I should be eating based on my activity (I used Runkeeper on longer walks as I haven't calibrated the Fitbit to my stride, which means when I'm walking quickly, roughly <9.5m per KM, it records about 1KM less than Runkeeper. The steps do appear to be accurate though.

I use MyFitnessPal for food tracking as their DB has a good selection of stuff I use and the recipe bit works well enough too. I'm mostly find for Calorie counting though it's a pain when you've gone out for dinner which we did a few times when we had guests.

The sleep tracking thing is kind of interesting but really doesn't add anything, or allow you do really do anything different.

Overall it's working for me, though I wouldn't say it's making me healthier :) The walking, as well as the calorie counting and cutting sugar down, has helped to lose weight. I'm down 3.1 (3.3 yesterday) from my high point on July 18th, and 1.5kg down from when I bought the Fitbit.

I do find the app a bit annoying at times, I'd rather it just let me sync when I choose rather than each time I open the app (say to check when calories I have left, or if I'm in the zone). It also crashes occasionally but that might be down to running the iOS 7 betas. I wish their website didn't use Flash as I tend to have it uninstalled.

Keep up the good work Rob, remember that every little bit counts and will all add to your long term goal it may just take a little longer than you would like.

I seem to have stumbled recently as I'm drinking a can of cola a day (for the last 3-4 days, skipped one day) and today I have quite incredible sugar cravings. Already over budget on Sugar today and staring at a cola can and kitkat on the table right in front of me.

If it wasn't teeming with rain and I didn't have my bike trailer with me (I'm in pool cafe while son is at Football training) I'd go out for a walk to see if that distracted me.

Was aiming for 0.9KG per week, and mostly hitting the deficit goal (sometimes under and sometimes a little over, basically a 1000 under by Fitbit tracking. less by MyFitnessPal).

Down 0.2kg

2013/08/21 -- 85.2kg -- -0.1kg

*grumble grumble* lots of flitting from 85.2 to 84.9 and back again. With the theoretical calorie deficit I'm following I should have lost 0.9kg, not 0.2kg

Week spent flitting from 85.3, to 85.6 and then down to 85.2 for the last two days. I've actually started eating more again I was quite far down calorie wise, possibly too far, and not eating more to compensate for the additional exercise. Using Fitbit's calorie food plan thing (which in part seems to be based off of http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/680246-tdee-bmr-what-they-are-and-what-to-do-with-them ), but MyFitnessPal for the tracking and such (its food database is great).

Total Lost so far: 2.4kg (started 87.6)

2013/08/21 -- 85.2kg -- -0.1kg
2013/08/14 -- 85.3kg -- -0.3kg

Quite impressed / disturbed by the weekly Fitbit stats: 111,613 steps   131 floors   83.40 km   19,617 calories

Since I've had a Fitbit One (reminds me, must post in that thread) I've only had 1 day under 10000 steps, and theoretically travelled 157.4km. I know thats under as I haven't adjusted my stride, some walks are about 1km under compared to run keeper (pretty consistently 1km too), the number of steps is pretty spot on the few times I've actively counted a bit :)

Need to be careful with Coke, had a can two days ago (mostly to get it out of the Fridge) and then this morning when the missus and I decided to have breakfast out I got a 500ml bottle of coke and now I find myself wanting more. Not good. (plus it well and truly broke my sugar budget for the day *grumbles at self*)
