Didn't manage so well with my steps the last two weeks with the kids on Holidays. Particularly as I've started a German course (3 hours a day, 5 days a week), I'm aiming to get back up to 10k a day. Weight has been largely stable (not really up or down) these last few weeks.

Thanks everyone, unfortunately we discovered today at the next appointment that it had died in the last couple of days as it had grown but there was now no heartbeat. So tomorrow Bob will need to go to the hospital for a DnC (or however you spell it)

So to put it mildly. F*** :/

I apparently have been doing progressively less each day for the last three days. 26k, 20k, and 16k today though that is largely a product of the poor weather.

The walking is improving my fitness a bit, I manage to run yesterday for 0.5km without stopping which is quite an improvement. Still don't enjoy running or the feeling of my body as it bounces up and down.

Total Lost so far: 4.7kg (started 87.6)

2013/09/25 -- 82.9kg -- -0.1kg
2013/09/18 -- 83.0kg -- -0.2kg
2013/09/11 -- 83.2kg -- -0.7kg

Again a week of flitting between 82.8 and 83.1, and to quote myself "I'd probably have been a little lower today had I not gone to bed at 1:30am and only got 5 hours sleep. Still, annoying considering the 1k calorie deficit." (I again only went to bed at 1am last night and to sleep after 1:30am). I'm willing to bet my body has a lower metabolism than Fitbit is projecting as I'm hitting my 1k deficit virtually every day (2 days at -300 to -500)

TrendWeight.com says I'm at 83.3kg (down .4kg from last week) and only eating at a 500 calorie deficit.

I don't have a hankering for Coke, fortunately. To me, it's poison. My DH loves it, so it's in the fridge. I've substituted much of the white sugar in my diet with rapidura, coconut sugar, maple syrup or dates. Much slower release carbs and so much better for you. You can find some great recipes and info for Thermie lovers on Quirky Jo's blog.

I'm on maintenance with Herbalife now as I've lost my 10kg over the last 4 months. I have a Herbalife smoothie once a day about 4 times a week. Still keep up with the supplements, especially the Tang Kuei, that's fantastic for stress! (I'm studying at the moment)

The weather has been foul lately, so I haven't been able to go outside to exercise. Dan would appreciate that. We've had high winds and drizzle for days on end, so unusual for this time of year.

Hi Megan, I think of it now as poison too given how it makes me feel after drinking it the first time in a day, doesn't affect me the second time. I hate where I am left feeling like I must go out and get a coke, something I am currently struggling with this as I type this. I'll have a look at Quirky Jo's site in a mo.

Congrats on losing the 10kg in 4 months! Not heard of Herbalife or Tang Kuei, my wife was/is using Juice Plus for supplements and their shakes for weightloss though thats kind of on hold now. [Apparently the missus has heard of Herbalife and says its similar to Juice Plus]

Our weather is also turning foul, lots of drizzle which gets you really quite wet when out walking and its cooling down quickly :/

Cheers everyone. I've slip a little the last few days where I was eating more calories than my 1k deficit.

Also been drinking coke over the last half of the week and multiple on a couple of days :/ So far just water today.

It's interesting to see other people's reactions to it. I've got well used to it now after 3 months of using it.

Haven't tried FaceTime Audio yet.

Likewise, only did 4.5k steps yesterday and until 8pm Saturday I only had 1.2k (though then I was out to make sure I got over the 10k).

Also lapsed a bit eating wise the last few days, eating about my theoretical intake as opposed to a 1000 calorie deficit. Plus a few more days drinking coke :/

Aiming for none today!

Not quite as Gert said. :)

There is a new OS for Macs coming but that isn't till next month (it's called 10.9 Mavericks). There is a minor update to the existing version available now (released the other week, 10.8.5).

iOS 7, the new OS for iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches is only available for "newer" devices.

iPad 2-4
iPad Mini
iPhone 4,4S, 5 and the new 5c & 5s
iPod Touch 5th+ (IIRC)

Basically the iPhone, iphone 3, iPhone 3GS & iPad are not powerful enough (nor have enough internal memory) for the new OS. The original iPad did get some upgrades in its lifetime .

It's out now though the servers are being somewhat slammed at the moment. If you get errors try again later.

A very thorough iOS 7 review

http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/09/ios-7-thoroughly-reviewed/

Well worth a read before you update.

Also iTunes 11.1 has now been released with support for iOS 7.

Just thought I'd give a heads up that a massive update is being released later today which will bring some massive UI changes to all of the default apps (including icons) and will herald in a swathe of updates for other apps as they update to take a similar clean look.

http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/ has a list of some of the visible changes

http://www.businessinsider.com/ios-6-versus-ios-7-apps-2013-9?op=1 has a side by side difference of various apps on the iPhone

I've been running it for 3 months now on my phone and iPad and overall its a nice upgrade, though slightly sluggish on an iPhone 4. There are still a few rough edges on it and I don't like all of the changes (I prefer some of the older icons and app looks) but I think a number of devs will draw a line in the sand soon and say they are only supporting iOS 7 and upwards rather than iOS 6 and upwards. Particularly with Apple quietly turning on a new feature which means that if you go to download an app that isn't compatible with your current OS or hardware, it will offer you the last compatible version.

I should add that my wife doesn't like the new look though she has kind of got used to it.
