Title: please help chicken risotto
Post by: cera on July 11, 2012, 07:55:23 am
I would like to cook a chicken risotto, basing it on the mushroom risotto.  Can i add chicken pieces  to the bowl or do i need to cook it in the varoma?

Thank you!

I do the mushroom rissotto with diced pumpkin and diced chicken in it, same cooking time etc, is yum. Sometimes use chicken stock in place of some water and leave out the veg stock - but only when I have chicken stock.
Good luck, hope that helps. :D

Cera I think you will be fine adding it to the risotto. I made maddys Red Curry Chicken Risotto on Monday and the chicken is cooked with the risotto. Perhaps look at the recipe for the apricot chicken risotto for a guide.

Here's a chicken and mushroom risotto (http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com.au/2010/10/chicken-mushroom-risotto.html) recipe from Quirky Jo's blog

Cera, I usually add diced chicken in the last four mins of cooking time. It works out well and chicken is moist. It is based on the EDC mushroom recipe. Must try Jo's recipe.

I make the Madras Curry and cut the chicken into small cubes and it only takes about 5 minutes in the bowl with rest of the ingredients and it's lovely and tender.

Lol, can you tell I'm keen hehe!  I also added bacon but I think I went wrong somewhere as it filled the jug which made the process very messy.  I put the lid on and it came out ok.

Is it normal for the scales to jump around whilst you are adding stuff?

Sorry, the numbers fly around a lot e.g go quite high then come back down and then settle somewhere in the middle?  I did realise the cord was caught under it so that may have been causing it.

Hopefully that is the problem then cera.  Before I start weighing anything, I always weigh the MC just to make sure my machine is balanced.  Mine weighs 25g but some people's weighs 30g but as long as it's consistent, then you know you are right to start weighing ingredients.

Cera, how did you chicken risotto turn out - was the cooking time of the chicken too long compared with what the girls were telling you?
