Special Diets / Bland/plain food diet
« on: December 31, 2011, 11:11:16 am »
My DH is recovering from Giardia and needs to eat a plain food diet.

What are some bland foods you can make......I am really struggling with it.

TIA.

I had planned on making this tonight but have had a last minute invite to have dinner with the inlaws so the chicken will have marinated for a whole 24 hours instead of 5 mins  :P

Looking forward to cooking this tomorrow now instead.

This is cooking away as I type. I am so excited as this is MY favourite meal.

I made this tonight and added some capsicum, zucchini and carrot with the onion and bacon. I also had some left over pasta sauce from the night before so I added that too.

As I have a large family (2 adults, 2 teenagers, 1 toddler and 1 baby) I have to make sure we have enough so I also made the dumplings and cooked them in the varoma tray while the rice was cooking.

I used diced beef casserole and it has cooked up really nicely.

It is delicious.

I made this last night and it was delicious.

I didn't have chicken noodle soup so I used about a teaspoon of Massel beef stock. I also used a whole zucchini and carrot and blitzed them with the onion. I also threw some breadcrumbs in and then coated them with more once I was rolling them into patties.

It was a hit with the little ones as they had their own little burgers.

We are having what is left tonight.....nom nom.

We had this tonight with a side serve of mashed potato, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots.

It was delicious.

I diced 8 mushrooms into 1/4s and added them in at the last 20mins.

Will be making this one again.

Well I will also be another one trying this recipe. I refuse to buy Nestle products and miss having Milo.

Now I won't have to..... :)

Thanks so much for sharing.

Well it was delicious. I put a little passata in it with the wine instead of water and added diced capsicum, zucchini, carrot and pumpkin in it as well as we ate it with rice.

Next time I will make it thicker and have it as a pie. The meat melted in your mouth.

This will be a regular meal.

Thanks again for sharing it.  :)

Nicola, the weather in Australia is a bit crazy at the moment, hence my comment.....lol.

Due to the unseasonably cold weather we are having in Melb today we are having this 'winter warmer' tonight.

I am looking forward to trying it out.
