I'd love to know too. Maybe some of the FNQ people may have some ideas.

Hmmmm I wonder how that could be done. I do know that you can buy a home bench top coffee roaster at the Skybury coffee plantation in Mareeba.  I saw one in action and it was pretty noisy   http://www.skybury.com.au/home  Might be worth while buying some green beans and experimenting

Don't think it can be done as the TMX does not get hot enough.

It definitely cant be done.  For roasting coffee beans you need to be able to get up to around 250C

Not sure it can be done either as I have read about people using a popcorn popper to roast coffee beans and the TMX doesn't pop popcorn....make sense!!??

I doubt it can be done spanner. We recently bought a small home roaster after my other half persisted with the bbq rotissorie (that he had modified), without a great deal of consistent success.  If your brother in law grew the beans he has to soak them them mash them with a stick then hand pod the beans. (All of this I'm sure he knows) Then they have to be dried.  Makes buying the green beans sound easy.

When using our roaster it has to be preheated then the beans are put in and the temp raised to about 220 degrees I think. The roaster tilts and different angles as it is going and there is a paddle that seems to evenly distribute the beans.  Much as I love the TMX I this is a little out of its territory.

Once he's roasted them he'll be able to grind the coffee in the TM!
