I made this recipe after a hot day yesterday. During the earlier steps I thought that I'd stuffed up...but once I added the butterfly attachment and did that step it turned out light and enjoyable.

I would probably make a few changes if I were to do it again (just personal preference):
I would reduce the sugar to 30g
I would reduce the coffee slightly (I was using instant coffee moccona dark roast, which was probably a little too strong for my taste buds)
Or....I'd probably prefer it with a shot of espresso coffee instead of the instant.

Next time we have a hot day (probably tomorrow at this rate) I'll try it again using less sugar and a shot of espresso coffee :) Will report back!

This recipe has been a no fail recipe for me. I make it fortnightly (and always keep a little aside to make the next batch)

I incubate it in my old Easiyo container which does 1L perfectly. I have at times used the thermoserver or a thermos as well and these work well too. I just find the Easiyo container simpler!

I love making up a batch of this yogurt and then once set following on with the Strawberry Yogurt Sorbet recipe on page 194 (using whatever fruits I have available)

Awesome recipe. 5/5

Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Re: Recipe Review Polenta Chips QFITT p.54
« on: January 02, 2016, 01:52:27 pm »
I made these again the other night (and do so regularly) I should have mentioned in my previous post that not only to I cook them longer than stated in the recipe, but I also cut them more thinly that it shows on the recipe and on the video (I really do like my chips quite crunchy!)

We really like them and have served them both with the spicy dipping sauce and the tomato one.

I like to use a home made chicken stock to make them, or...even better...if I'm making shredded chicken in the thermomix (1L water, 1 clover garlic and some herbs in the bowl and the chicken thights/breast in the varoma for 25 mins) I then use the broth that it produces in this recipe...no waste! :)

This is one of my favourite meals! It's so quick to prepare so it's great for a weeknight meal...but looks and tastes classy enough for guests also.

I like to use either 500g chicken and keep the amount of sauce the same. Or use the full amount of chicken (1kg) and double the sauce.

It's a delicious and so straightforward recipe...and it goes down well with adults and children! :) 5/5

Another recipe to add to my list of things to make! I love the idea of using chicken Halex.
Has anyone tried this with salmon? (just because I know I have some of that in the cupboard, and don't have any tuna...one less thing to buy!?)

I made these last week and they were a bit hit! (I didn't do the cucumber salad to go with them as I didn't have any cucumbers at the time!) The chicken had beautiful flavour. Would definitely do these for a get together.

I used honey in the marinade...has anyone tried it with maple syrup? I thought that might be yummy too!

Thanks Alyce, your cookbooks are getting a real workout here! (I should be too after the Christmas/New Year festivities, but I'm too busy cooking!)
Thanks  ;D

Just reading through the reviews on this recipe and it's gone straight to number 1 priority of my list of things to make! Will be doing it tomorrow!
I've got a brand of gelatine called "Great Lakes" which I've heard good things about on a few of the blogs (Quirky Cooking was one of them from memory) Possibly the type of gelatine you use could have a big impact on how it sets (and tastes?)

Will report back once I make it to see if it sets ok! :)

Thanks for your replies everyone! Cuilidh do you like the Rainbow Recipes book? (would meat-loving friends/family like the meals?)
I've been ill since Christmas day (darn Tonsillitis) so I need something to cheer me up! A new cookbook always works! I'll have a good look at the index of each and I might have to just give myself a get well soon gift!  ;D

Hi! This is on my long list of cookbooks that I want to buy! Has anyone here already got it already?

I'm tossing up between a few books (Tenina's vegetarian cookbook as well as a few other Vegetarian ones I've seen....my daughter wants to become a vegetarian...so I'm meeting (excuse the pun lol! ;D) her halfway and having a few vegetarian meals a week and a few meaty ones too)

Any reviews would be marvellous!

Cakes / Re: 'Choc Ripple' Biscuits (dairy free version too)
« on: September 09, 2015, 09:09:54 am »
Hello! I've just discovered this recipe and I've made it twice in the last week to make into chocolate ripple cakes for functions! I love it!

but....what do I need to alter if my dough is very very sticky? I've read that the dough shouldn't be a sticky dough and it should be easy to roll....but mine to very sticky and hard to roll!

Am I mixing it too much, or is my butter too soft? Should I cut down on the amount of butter?

It makes a beautiful chocolate ripple cake, but I find that the actual biscuits don't look as good as the ones in the picture! thanks! :)

Hello!!! Has anyone ever frozen this pastry?
I have some sour cream that needs to be used up...and I thought if I made this pastry and froze it at some stage? would that work???
If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear! :) Thanks! :)

Yvette, I'm not sure if you are in Melbourne, but I am in a co-op here in Melbourne and the woman that runs it was talking about getting some in stock. Would you like her contact details?

Definitely sold it for me too! (well, I was already tempted, but this made it a certainty!) :) Looks great!
