Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / Re: My Way of Cooking International Edition 2« on: February 08, 2010, 02:04:29 pm »Anyway - I think that I have changed to the TM HO way of thinking. Getting old - but think that there needs to be some incentive for the dreaded demos. As mentioned previously, its hardly an incentive when the customer has to pay $30 plus postage! Most PP companies give the host a free gift of that value as a thank you regardless of sales! And as consultants we are told to stick to the demo dishes and only them as they are proven. I have tried to do different dishes in demos, workshops etc for customers who were on their 3rd demo and got wrapped over the knuckles. I think part of the problem is that customers actually want advanced cooking classes and not neccessarily extra demos. I have bought this up the higher powers in the past and the response was "Advanced cooking classes are not really our issue, we need to focus on sales and new customers. If they want advanced classes then let them set up their own cooking classes/clubs". (Not exact words but something very similar) In my opinion, if they want to get existing customer to introduce the TM to new customers then maybe we need to keep them happy with something more than the basics which are currently offered. I would personally like to see a variation to the demo dishes for those who have seen it several times. An instant icecream for desert is just as impressive as sorbet and something like Dukkah could substitue the dip. At demos such as these you usually have access to 2 machines - yours and the customers, so no reason why 2 main meals could not be prepared or a different desert than custard. There are so many simple recipes which highlight the versatitly of the TM out there. And I do agree that the commission does not parallel with the amount of time, travel, follow up and customer service which we put in. 33

Chit Chat / Re: Indian cookbook out of stock!« on: February 05, 2010, 08:37:04 am »
I was surprised to hear that they had already run out and didnt know when more would be available. They sold out fast the first time and were out of stock for a long time. Would have been wise to have order another lot in the meantime as excess stock would not have mattered as much as no stock.

Chit Chat / Re: Consultants- I have a question...« on: February 05, 2010, 08:33:28 am »
Yep that would count for me as well as she hasn't had her own demo yet and is with in a few days. If I had already put the demo summary/book order through I would probably offer the another cookbook/s of the same value for free.

Yeah that did come across a bit angry JD but not intended. Just a bit frustrated! I'm generally a happy, casual person who is very easy to get along with!
I understand that the host incentives are there to try and reach more people by encouraging more demos and ultimately growing our personal businesses, but agree with Chelsea that it puts pressure on existing customers to keep having demos which is not fair for those who may not want to. And generally the same people come along which technically doesn't count. It is also common place now that customers will pay using credit for books, extra bowls etc. As I cant process credit card payments I don't get any commission from these sales as it is processed by head office. This is also the same for customers who want to purchase extra items with their machine but cant/don't want to pay via cash or direct deposit to me for the extra items. Obviously the sale of a machine is better than selling books etc but it all adds up and doesn't really give much incentive to sell the books. (But in spite of the winging I love my TM so am happy to show it to people!) On the other hand I like the look of the new book - it is nicely set out and has a variety of recipes. At a quick glance a number of the recipes sounded familiar and are possibly from other books or have been put on the thermomix blog. It would be nice if we could get some reviews of recipes happening though. 44

lol ta,
Like I said, I haven't known any better or different so sorry if I'm mucking it up for you other consultants! I just don't have the time or money to drive 200-300km (or sometimes more!) for a customer who is ONLY having a demo just to get the book and don't like making them feel obligated to have a demo just to get it. Its different if they have friends interested or want extra help or demos, but no point in wasting both of our time if its not necessary. 45
Main Dishes / Re: Mustard brandy chicken from NEW GF cookbook« on: February 02, 2010, 12:32:38 pm »
Yes it is extremely annoying as i didnt even know that they had changed and have sold my older copies so now cant even compare the two to see what is different!!
I cant understand why they would completely remove or add new recipes to an existing cookbook anyway - why not just tweak the current recipes and save the new ones for the new cookbooks. |
