Recipe Requests / Fresh Rice Noodles
« on: August 10, 2010, 02:18:12 pm »
Just thought I'd put this one out there before I try it in case it's been tried before.

You make a batter of rice and water then steam it to set the noodles, it says not to use a food processor but seeing as I reckon the TMX isn't just any old food processor, it's worth a go ;)

Recipe Requests / Brown Rice Risotto
« on: August 02, 2010, 11:27:31 pm »
Anyone made risotto with brown rice? I've found a few recipies for non TMX procedure, wondering if I just increase the cooking time or liquid amount, or do it radically differently? Leave it to soak after I saute the rice?

Thanks  :D

Recipe Requests / Preserved fruit in sorbet?
« on: November 16, 2009, 12:27:44 am »
We love orange sorbet more than anything, and although you can get oranges at the stupormarket most of the year, they're not very nice after being stored for a long time  :-)) Has anyone used home-preserved oranges in sorbet? I have a Fowlers Vacola  ;D

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / I've dinged me rim!
« on: September 29, 2009, 04:18:26 pm »
My TMX has been leaking when I've had large volumes of liquid at high speeds  ??? Not disastrous, just a bit messy and annoying. Checked the seal over and over. Noticed, finally, that the rim of the bowl is slightly dented  :-[ I'm clumsy, I drop the poor thing regularly. Obviously on just the wrong spot a while ago  :-))

Any advice? Hubby normally volunteers to fix such things but hasn't at this stage  8)

Recipe Requests / Poached eggs
« on: August 02, 2009, 04:21:40 am »
Can someone less sleep deprived than me think of a way to poach eggs in the TMX? I'm not a big egg fan, so I don't cook them much, the kids won't eat them if I fry or scramble them, want to see if I can poach them satisfactorily, figure the TMX would be more consistent than learning to do them on the stove, if it can be done ;)

Maybe in a little pyrex dish in the Varoma?

Recipe Requests / Breakfast risotto?

Help! I saw a recipe for a breakfast risotto using vanilla bean some time ago, finally remembered to buy the vanilla bean this week, but can't find the recipe! I've looked online and googled, but have vague idea it wasn't online but in print, a newsletter?  ???

Special Diets / The Chia Challenge!
« on: December 30, 2008, 01:37:22 pm »
I'm putting this in here as I'll be working with all gluten free ingredients, but if you're not GF, feel free to join in with non-GF ingredients as well.

I have been investigating some more nutritious GF flour options, especially ones I can buy in grain/seed form and mill myself in the  *:, of course  ;) I have come up with 3 in particular - Chia, Amaranth and Quinoa.

Chia http://www.thechiaco.com.au/index.php?id=1

Amaranth http://www.ripeorganics.com.au/wholefoods-glossary/grains-legumes/amaranth

Quinoa http://www.organicsaustraliaonline.com.au/category466_1.htm

Anyone interested in joining me in some new cooking adventures? I'm hoping to come up with a grain blend, some combination of the above with rice and maybe corn (if I can get it dried, or maybe I need to dehydrate my own?) to chuck into the TM any time I want to bake. I love my cakes and muffins and biscuits, if I can make them better for me, so much the better!

Ordering my Chia now...

Tips/Hints:

Sauce thickens on standing.
The  *: makes cooking this so easy. No more standing at a hot stove trying to stop it sticking to the bottom while hungry children whine on the other side of the safety barrier! I chuck it on then sit down to read to them while it cooks  ;D

Introduce Yourself / Hi from Harmony
« on: December 24, 2008, 01:53:18 am »
Hi all :)

I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and have finally taken a quiet moment to register so I can participate  ;D

I bought my TM in late August about a month before the birth of my 3rd baby girl (love the baby bonus!) and love it so much I just took it on holidays. It certainly made it easy for my sister to brown batches of mince for lasagne while catching up with an old school friend who lived in the area! And the white sauce as well, even with the machine at full capacity it came out smooth and creamy.

We are a family of 5 with 4 gluten free (or GF-to-be) members so I've some stuff to share...when I have 2 hands free...breastfeeding a baby and a toddler makes that a bit rare  ;)

Cheers
