Bread cooked in Varoma?
« on: May 30, 2012, 01:37:27 pm »
Hi all,
As our kitchen is being build at the moment I don't have an oven, I only have my thermo and a microwave. I miss having fresh bread and just remembered that I have seen somewhere here that it is possible to cook-bake bread in the varoma. I would appreciate it very much if anyone can tell me where to find such recipe. I have looked without success. Thanks :)

I have cooked bread in the varoma. I think it was a Tenina  recipe. If you have a BBQ with a lid you can bake your bread in that. Have you googled  cooking bread in the varoma?

Thank you JD you're a wealth of information and always there to help :)

Gert it is too cold at the moment to be cooking anything in the BBQ. It does sound good though, perhaps I will try that later I the year in the warm weather. Thanks :)

I hate bread that has been steamed.  Could you borrow a bread machine or one of those round ovens..?

The steamed bread is ok for toast.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

We make the steamed bread- its AMAZING!  You really need to let it rise for an hour and make sure you cook it in a ceramic/china bowl in the varoma.  Good luck!

I suppose it is up to individual taste. I got rid of my bread maker when we bought the TM and I think people who have the bread makers use them for themselves.

Joon, thank you I will give it a try.
