Dinner tonight is lasagne from the freezer with home made chips and chocolate self saucing pudding. This is the standard menu when two of our grand daughters are here and they have a third one for a sleep over. They have taken Grandpa to the movies to see Ice Age 4 and then back here for a sleepover. A noisy night ahead I think.

Today it was custard buttons with choc chips in them as requested by the grand children - not quite what I had in mind but who am I to argue, and a non tmx choc self saucing pudding for dessert tonight.

Have just finished reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer. Before that Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult and Leaving Jack by Gareth Crocker. I have to admit to shedding a few tears over that one.
We get given quite a lot of books and once they are read we pass them on to a local fire brigade who hold a annual book fair as a money raiser. They raise quite a bit of money this way.

We have two grand daughters arriving tomorrow for a few days so made a batch of Beatty's Biscuits. Will make some other type of biscuit later on but haven't made up my mind what yet.

Took DH to the dentist today to have three teeth removed and they decided to take a fourth one as well so he is feeling a bit down at the moment.

I buy cheap homebrand vinegar for the final rinse of my washing machine and tip half of the 1 litre bottle of vinegar into another bottle, top them both up with water and get 2 bottles for the price of 1. However, we did have a discussion somewhere on the forum (it eludes me at present) and the whole issue became more scientific. For washing clothes though, my hint works beautifully and saves me money in the laundry. I wouldn't keep topping it up when it gets half empty though. I start again with another lot. Vinegar as a final rinse in the washing machine and dishwasher is supposed to keep everything gunk free according to an Enjo rep.
Judy, how much do you actually put in the rinse? I take it that you are using white vinegar and not brown. Dumb question I know but I'll ask it anyway.

Made a batch of the sweet mustard pickles from the recipe that Dede kindly found for me. They look and taste good but next time I will not chop the vegies quite so small.
