Julie O would you mind sharing your recipe for your homemade baked beans  ??? My DH loves baked beans and I have always wanted to try making them myself.. :) and yes your photo's are amazing... I can almost smell the beans... :)

Mary, no problems, a very easy recipe.  My DH loved them as is, but I would like to try for a bit more flavour, so just need tweaking a bit for me, still good though.   :)

BAKED BEANS
2 tbsp rice bran oil
1 onion finely diced
3 rashers of rindless bacon, chopped 
250ml tomato passata or sugo
˝ cup water
1 tbsp golden syrup
1 tsp smoked, plain or sweet paprika (I used sweet, will try smoked next time)
400g can cannellini beans drained and rinsed
3 generous squirts ketchup (or to taste)

In a medium sized pan heat the oil and add the onion and the bacon. 
Cook for around 5 minutes until the onion is soft and the bacon is browning.

Add paprika and stir through for about 20 secs or so.
Add the passata/sugo, golden syrup and water.
Stir, simmer and allow to thicken, approx 3-5 minutes.

Once thickened add the ketchup and taste. If you think it needs it, add approx 1 tsp sugar and stir in. Can also add a little water if needed.

Add beans and carefully stir through, allow to heat for a min or so.  Serve.

For lunch I made the Chinese Crispy Shredded Beef recipe which JulieO posted her picture of 2 pages back.  I did the first step on the stove top but made the sauce in the thermomix.  I microwaved the carrot and some celery for 1 minute, forgot to add it into the sauce so mixed it through at the end with the cooked beef.  I also used 1/2 a red onion instead of spring onions, 1 bok choy and sambal oelek instead of a chilli.  Very tasty recipe, thanks for the link Rob and Julie for her review & posting. Was in too much of a hurry to make some rice but would certainly do that next time.

Is it worth having a section for non TMX recipes we like, rather than have a whole bunch of interesting recipes hidden in this and the cooking thread which after 90 pages get a little hard to find? Has this been discussed before?

Rob, asking that question on your behalf has paid off.  MM will be putting a new area for non-TMX on the board tonight (UK time).  Thanks for the suggestion Rob and thanks MM.
