I haven't tried that as I don't have the book. Is it worth getting do you think?

I love the book Moo2 but not everyone does - I personally think it is the best of the International series of books. I'll pm you the recipe so you can give it a try.

I quite like the book too.  A lot of it is basic food but very tasty.

Thanks JD. Have you made the soup that Chelsea mentions?

No but I'd back Chelsea's judgement on any recipe  ;)

Oh, here's another thread on this soup - have a read of it before you go opening 2 cans of beans  ;)

Thanks for the thread hint. I will definitely use only one tin as my lot are a little picky with beans but I love them so they have to put up with them.  ;)

I must get in the habit of checking for hints/reviews before I do anything. Trouble is though, I often read something and then forget about it 5mins later!

My family can't eat cabbage, can you suggest a substitute for cabbage.

That's a tough one Sandip. Chow Mein without cabbage just doesn't sound right but I wonder if you could use bok choy instead or spinach perhaps.  Is the Chinese cabbage no good either, that would be a good substitute here.  What are others' thoughts on this question.

What about baby spinach but not cooked in the varoma but rather stirred though the chow mein mixture at the end? (So put the rice basket on top of the TM lid in place of the varoma so steam can still escape)

In saying the above though, my skills in cooking are a bit basic (improving with TM) so I have no idea if the flavour would work.

That sounds a great idea. Then the spinach would just wilt.

Oh golly, cabbage is the star.  Perhaps some crunchy steamed beans and carrots for a bit of texture. :)
