Crumbs, that's a lot of carrots, Chookie.
This weekend it is corn chowder, sweet potato and peanut soup and a bean salad - it is obviously getting into soup season now! Made a huge pot of stew last week so we have quite a bit stocked in the freezer and DH also made some dahl and rice so we are set up for the week. 3

Hmmm, not sure what to make of that letter, Cookie. Obviously MM / IT were making a great deal of money in the earlier days, and good on them, perhaps they could have looked to the future then and arranged for contingencies, however they have (maybe inadvertently) created a community now and I wonder if they understand that development.
Admittedly there are a lot of other forums, blogs, etc. now than there were in the earlier days, but I don't think there are many with the camaraderie and support this one offers. We are mainly in the same age group and we value the forum so perhaps some sort of acceptable subscription may work. I really don't have any ideas about this at all ... and I really don't know if that last paragraph makes any sense either (it's 5.15 am here just now!) ... maybe I should have waited until I had wakened up before writing this! 4

Thanks Cookie for letting us know that the forum was up again. Although I don't post so often I have missed the chit chat.
Chookie, I've been meaning to ask how the trip you arranged went - hope everyone behaved themselves! Our Scottish cousins have been and gone - a hectic week - I ended up with 8 loads of washing, between bed linen, etc. Fortunately it was a wonderful warm weekend so everything got washed and dried. Went to an osteo last week - knee replacement coming up for me sometime - I am trying to put it off until Xmas as I can handle the pain for now - so I can recuperate when we are closed down for the holiday. I don't know if I can pull that off or not, but I'll have a chat with the surgeon soon. 5

Had a busy couple of days with my cousins from Scotland. Visited Daylesford, Vaughan Springs, Maldon and the cousins climbed Mt Tarrengower watch tower (I sat happily in the car watching them!).
They have headed up to my sister in Brisbane so I am now catching up on everything that has piled up whilst they were here (including the washing, thank goodness for a week of fine weather) Reading some of the above comments reminds me that I must get DH and myself off for our annual flu and COVID vaccinations. 6
Chit Chat / Re: It’s back‼️« on: April 15, 2026, 07:55:16 pm »I sent an email to Mr IT. MM gave us his address. I haven’t heard anything back from him.Hope you get a response soon. We have found in business these days people don't like to talk to or communicate with other people. It's very strange. We make an effort to respond to every email that needs a response and often get acknowledged or thanked for getting back in touch to their original contact. 7

I think I might make a romesco sauce with pasta ... but then again, maybe not. We'll see. I have yet to work up the enthusiasm and energy for that

A pretty lazy day for me today - prepping the apartment for my family due in from Scotland any day now (although they have already had one delay in Amsterdam and subsequently missing their connection from Singapore .. they will get here eventually). Did some work in the office this morning then I treated myself to a quick afternoon nap - what a treat!

Chit Chat / Re: It’s back‼️« on: April 12, 2026, 08:02:02 am »I think we need to do some forward planning. Any ideas?I agree, it would be such a great shame if we lost everything on the forum - not only friendships but a treasure trove of recipes and stories. I don't know anything about how a forum works or how to operate it. Is it covered by MM's copyright? Does anyone know anything about these things? Didn't some of the older members create a separate forum several years ago? Does anyone know anything about that? 10
Chit Chat / Re: It’s back‼️« on: April 11, 2026, 08:40:31 pm »Oops, I forgot to say how grateful I am for the effort Judy and Cookie make in contacting MM. very frustrating for you both but we do appreciate your efforts.I agree totally. Thank you both so much for getting us back together on the forum again. 11

Mab, I agree with Judy! I guess you can look at it positively, you won't need to clean up that particular area for a few more days!
I forgot to mention that when I was at Chookie's at Easter "we" (I use we loosely there as Chookie did 99% of it) made a batch of excellent hot cross buns - I enjoyed doing the "X's" - some were very dramatic. 13

I've had a hectic week - MRI on knee (not great), wonderful Easter Saturday with Chookie (when I finally managed to find her place ... does anyone know of a decent satnav app??), Colonoscopy yesterday, Bone densitometry today. Yesterday we had a landscaper in sorting out our top deck, at the moment it looks pretty sad, but once the plants have settled in, had a year's growth and adapted to apartment life they will look really good. Next week two of my cousins are flying in from Scotland (one of whom has the broadest accent you could wish for - I will just be getting used to it when they leave!), but I will be exhausted by then.

Hello everyone.
What a fluke - I was just about to delete the forum from my contacts and thought "oh I had better make sure that it is really dead", and here it is. I will let Chookie know as we were talking over Easter about the forum and she may not be aware that it is up and running again, for however long ... MM has certainly done his best to kill it these past couple of weeks so I suspect we should make the best of it whilst we can. Having said all that (pessimist that I am) I am delighted to have it back again, I missed you all. I must try to go through everything so that I can transfer recipes to my cook book - how do you go through 10+ years of posts? 15

If all goes to plan, over the weekend it will be roast leeks with romesco sauce, Mixed bean salad and roasted sweet potato dahl
