LOL - thought that was a new digital radio station!

-
Do you guys have MIX FM ?? Maybe just a mainland radio station - that was the reason i thought that we have MIX FM and TM(i)X FM. ;D
-
Someone asked again about EVOO - must put that on the list too please.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil - how can you really have extra virgin or less than virgin :) ???
-
LOL now that you ask Shayla I don't know :P :P one of those silly things isn't it
-
There is virgin olive oil - which has more acidity than extra virgin oil.
Will find some info.
From wikipedia:
Retail grades in IOOC member nations
In countries which adhere to the standards of the IOOC[19] the labels in stores show an oil's grade. The US is not a member.
* Extra-virgin olive oil comes from virgin oil production only, contains no more than 0.8% acidity, and is judged to have a superior taste. Extra Virgin olive oil accounts for less than 10% of oil in many producing countries. Used on salads, added at the table to soups and stews and for dipping.
* Virgin olive oil comes from virgin oil production only, has an acidity less than 2%, and is judged to have a good taste.
* Pure olive oil. Oils labeled as Pure olive oil or Olive oil are usually a blend of refined and virgin production oil.
* Olive oil is a blend of virgin and refined production oil, of no more than 1.5% acidity. It commonly lacks a strong flavor.
* Olive-pomace oil is refined pomace olive production oil possibly blended with some virgin production oil. It is fit for consumption, but may not be described simply as olive oil. Olive-pomace oil is rarely sold at retail; it is often used for certain kinds of cooking in restaurants.
* Lampante oil is olive oil not suitable as food; lampante comes from olive oil's long-standing use in oil-burning lamps. Lampante oil is mostly used in the industrial market.
* Refined olive oil is the olive oil obtained from virgin olive oils by refining methods which do not lead to alterations in the initial glyceridic structure. It has a free acidity, expressed as oleic acid, of not more than 0.3 grams per 100 grams (0.3%) and its other characteristics correspond to those fixed for this category in this standard. This is obtained by refining virgin olive oils which have a high acidity level and/or organoleptic defects which are eliminated after refining. Over 50% of the oil produced in the Mediterranean area is of such poor quality that it must be refined to produce an edible product. Note that no solvents have been used to extract the oil but it has been refined with the use of charcoal and other chemical and physical filters. An obsolete equivalent is "pure olive oil"
-
I was actually being tongue in cheek about the extra virgin - a virgin is a virgin is a virgin?? Pure is pure and there is no such thing as extra pure ;D ;D ;D
-

Is there a symbol for the butterfly?

There is a symbol in the official books and some websites, but the symbols we have came from the Italian Bimby site and they don't have one - MM may be able to find one on one of the other forums?

-
Hey,

I see DH, DS, DD in the list. Where's the DW?? :-))
Russell.

DW would be addicted to this place Russell :D :D
-
Do I detect some gender bias here??
Definitely - we are outnumbered so be careful and think about how you are going to word your statements
Where's the DW?? :-))
Hopefully out in the kitchen where she belongs cooking my food, unless she's hanging out the washing - that's OK too. :o

Rolling On The Floor Laughing My Arse Off ;) - ROTFLMAO

You're a bit late for April Fools Judy...
My son, who plays online games regularly, actually walks around the house saying LOL, ROFL and a few others. Seems like internet/SMS shortcuts will be the new English soon.
-
It's not strange at all depending on the persons personality, coming from me it would come across a strange. I am not 1 to openly show my affection unless it is for my hubby, kids and my animals.
I don't openly talk in abbreviation, only when typing. I wish DH would use acronyms his spelling so atrocious lol, its a talent just to decipher his writing, and no he isn't a Dr lol
-
Hey,
Where's the DW?? :-))
Russell.
Don't you mean the SWMBO? LOL- She Who Must Be Obeyed ? :D
Great list of abbreviations - I must admit I was having trouble with EDC and EEVO (which I thought was an oil brand :-[)
-
Thanks for this - thought I knew them all - but I think I will have to now give my DH a new name on my blog - let him figure that one out!!!

Hi. Can we please add the following to the official list of Acronyms / Abbreviations? I would not like people to get the wrong impression:
FUIC = Farmers Union Iced Coffee.
It's an Aussie male thing available every where in Oz. Think it may also be sold in NZ as well.
-
;D ;D ;D

What about for the ppl who are too young to have DH DS DD ?
How about DP ? Dear Partner ;D

I think OH is the standard partner abr, stands for other half.

Is it SO - significant other?
I'm not a fan of partner (sounds so committed), I like boyfriend better, sounds more fun! Wish I had a boyfriend, oh wait I do, he's really noisy and can purée lettuce ;)
-
Is it SO - significant other?

I am soo glad I found this thread. My poor old brain has been working overtime trying to worl out a lot of the acronyms used here.
The one that had me stumped the longest was EVOO.
Most others became apparent when read in context with the discussion, But all this talk about EVOO and how much it was used.
Still trying to figure out how to get the smilies onto the page without typing them. :-[
-
All you do is click on the one you want Rosie ;) It will show as a symbol on your typed post but will be a smiley when you click 'post'
-
Rosie EVOO caught me out too till very recently, then it suddenly clicked and I had a "duh, of course" moment.
-
FIGJAM - F**k I am good just ask me
ROFLPIMP - Rolling on floor laughing P**sing in my pants.
The bosses favourite and he uses it ALL the time......... NMP - Not my problem

-
I'm glad I read this thread too. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that didn't get EVOO.
-
SWHL = son/s with hollow legs :D :D :D
Thought I had better add it in as I loved it when I read it (thanks CP and Goldfish ;)) and have just used it again :)

I think it is South Of the River. Can't remember whether it is Brisbane or Perth that use this terminology?

I can answer this - only because I asked the same question ages ago in a completely different thread. It refers to Perth, Wa and is
SOR - South of the River
NOR - North of the River
-
As a newbie, all of these Acronyms / Abbreviations are very helpful too!
