BASIL MULTI GRAIN PIZZA SCROLLS

1 bunch of fresh basil
260g water
1.5 tsp of fresh yeast or 1 sachet
1 tsp salt
500g multigrain flour
20g olive oil

Topping

Tomato paste or pizza sauce
150g shaved salami (deli)
To good handfuls of lite cheddar tasty cheese (grated in TM)
10 sliced black olives

(measurements to your own taste)

Place basil and pulverise for  5 seconds on speed 8

Add bread mix:

Water
Yeast
Salt
Flour
Oil

Mix for 5 seconds on speed 7.

Knead dough for 2.5 mins.

Place on tray and cover and let rise for 1 hour.

Roll out into rectangle shape about 1-1.5cm thin.

Spread tomato past thinly over entire area and then top with cheese, salami and olives.

Roll length ways, keeping it nice and firm and then lift edges up press to stop filling coming out or unrolling.

Use a pizza cutter or nice sharp knife and slice about 1-1.5 inches thick and carefully place each individually on tray.  (topping may fall out if not rolled tight enough so just tuck back in and be gentle)

Cover and let sit again for 20 mins for second rise.  Meantime, pre-heat oven and then cook for 20-25 mins until golden brown.

***

Other options are Vegemite and cheese also really yummy!!

Makes 6-8 servings.

Will try this in the morning, don't have any multigrain flour or grains atm so will just use plain bread flour.  No salami but I have 1 lonely chorizo sausage which should do the trick.   -

I'm surprised this has been here all this time without any comment ???  Has anyone tried it?

You might be the first GF - there are probably lots of recipes on the forum that no-one has tried so it's nice to dig out an oldie and have a go.

I've done similar but not with the multi grain. I'm sure they are going to taste delicious.

Well . .all started well this morning. almost depleted the last of my basil from the garden, all the other ingredients all set to go - the last of my lovely OO flour included, the lonely little chorizo sausage prepared, etc etc etc.

It was very cold in the kitchen this morning, so I sought the sunniest spot I could in the back yard.  Tipped the dough into a bowl, all nicely covered and placed it in the sun (bearing in mind I would have to keep the two little terrorists terriers inside behind locked doors until the dough had risen sufficiently.)  Checked about 30 minutes later and the dough was rising nicely.  I mustn't have fastened the sunroom door properly when I came back in because when I went to check again, guess who were standing over the bowl licking their chops!!  The little *****'s had pulled the cover off, and had eaten about 1/2 the dough :o :o :-)) :-)) (I imagine they'll suffer somewhat of a tummy upset, but at the moment, I'm thinking the punishiment might just fit the crime!! - keeping an eye on them though!!)  Rescued what was left and popped it in the oven . .smelled wonderful! - chooks will have it for afternoon tea! :-)) ;D  (luckily it was an old bowl on its last legs - it will now become an outside bowl for doggy treats, etc.)

Totally human error - human should have been more careful  . . but human still mad at greedy little canines!!!   ;D ;D ;D

Must say though that I really like the idea of adding the herbs to the dough and now I'm really keen to try it again - possibly later this week.  The only photo I took, Uni, was the dough in the TMX - not terribly exciting at all . . :-)) ???

I hope the terrorists are ok. No pictures of them with full tummies?
