Hi all,

I would like the kids to make some inexpensive Christmas gifts that they can give to their teachers.  What would you suggest? I was thinking edible but that's just me... so any ideas would be appreciated. I'm still trying to get my head around making washing detergent in my main food preparation tool...

At least one of the teachers is a real chocolate fiend and is planning on having a TMX demo early next year, so I thought I could tempt her further... The only other thing I need to be careful with is not using nuts. The teachers themselves are not allergic to nuts but I can't send them to school/kinder because there are other children who are and I really don't want to be the one who causes a child to become sick.

Cheers,
Kerryn

Recipe Requests / Re: Pancakes
« on: November 13, 2010, 11:52:52 pm »
Just found this recipe when wanting to make pancakes for breakfast - I was obviously too hungry to concentrate properly as I missed the part where the wet ingredients went with only *1 cup* of dry....

FYI, it takes more than three eggs, 75g of butter and lots of milk to fix this up when you stuffed it like me...

And I wondered my my kids reported my cooking as "crap compared to those Junior MasterChefs"....

Chit Chat / Re: Challenge #4 - Lunch box Challenge, all welcome!

Found the recipes - has anyone tried "Crunchy Rice Crackers" or "Corn Chips" from the lunch box cookbook?  And the "melted cheese dip"?

Hi all,

I recently tried the rice crackers and as someone else said, you really do need to roll them out thin - the book says not too thin and this is what caught me out, as I was not adventerous enough. So, we have a box of tasty but very, very crunchy rice crackers. (They went well with the chicken liver pate). I will try them again though, and roll them much thinner. They didn't rise or anything so I think this is a good guideline as to the thickness (or should I say thinness) to roll them. I really like the idea of knowing exactly what has gone into them (and everything else now that I have *the power* to make it myself). I did have a friend comment that he didn't know people could make their own savoury biscuits.  ???

Also made some pizza scrolls this morning for my eldest's lunch box. He has been home for 3 hours and hasn't complained about them so far, so I guess that was a winner... they were a bit sweet for me, but some grown up toppings (rather than just ham and cheese) might have made all the difference.

Cheers,

Introduce Yourself / Hi from Melbourne
« on: November 02, 2010, 09:25:38 am »
Hi everyone,
My TM and I have been together now for 2 weeks and we are still in love!

I first heard about the TM when a friend was having a demo and I was interested to see what she was thinking she "needed" in her kitchen... quite sure that she was really going mad. Of course less than 10 minutes into the demo I was mentally trying to justify how I could afford to fit my own TM into my budget.

Then a few months ago I borrowed my friend's TM while I looked after her dog for a few days and went mad. I tried to make as many things as I could in 5 days, just to show myself and my husband that I would use one, that it would be great, and that we would enjoy it altogether as a family. We did, and I was very sad when my friend asked for it back - she still comments that she had to "ask for it" too... I really wasn't ready to part with it.

12 months on from my first introduction to the TM we received some surprise money and welcome TM! (no one had to die in the making of this relationship thankfully - but a big thankyou to Mr Rudd, who's gift was late in arriving and very unexpected indeed!) In fact, my Mum was visiting when I received the cheque in the mail and I was so excited I started dancing around the house singing "I'm gonna get a Thermomix! I'm gonna get a Thermomix!"

I have made more things that I can recount and have loved them all! I think my favourite so far was the Thai Red Curry, and a Spiced Apple Date Cake (which I may have even gotten from this forum..?), oh and the sorbets, and the custard, and the ....

I have even planted myself a new herb garden in honour of my TM!

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Cheers,
Kerryn
