It's interesting to read that you are having similar problems with teaching in Australia as we seem to have over here. The NUT (National Union of Teachers) has just proposed that teachers should not teach for more than 4 hours a day so that they can have time to do everything else that they have to do. I get what they're wanting but I can imagine some of our press having a field day talking about them being workshy....
I stopped working when aged 52 because I was fed up with what I was doing. I was meant to take 4 months to decide what I would do next but ended up not doing any paid work since. I was lucky in that I was financially able to not work and have been doing voluntary work which means I am in control of what I do and how much I do.
I well remember that feeling of panic when I made the decision to stop - but I have never regretted it. There's more to life than work
