You don't need to rush into a decision but just think about this as the start of your journey into the rest of your life and we'll be here to hold your hand while you start to plan the trip  :D :D :D

Morning all.

It's interesting to read that you are having similar problems with teaching in Australia as we seem to have over here.   The NUT (National Union of Teachers) has just proposed that teachers should not teach for more than 4 hours a day so that they can have time to do everything else that they have to do.   I get what they're wanting but I can imagine some of our press having a field day talking about them being workshy....  :-)) :-))

I stopped working when aged 52 because I was fed up with what I was doing.  I was meant to take 4 months to decide what I would do next but ended up not doing any paid work since.   I was lucky in that I was financially able to not work and have been doing voluntary work which means I am in control of what I do and how much I do.

I well remember that feeling of panic when I made the decision to stop - but I have never regretted it.  There's more to life than work  ;) ;)

Nor did I CC.... would love to find out more  :)

Morning all  :D :D

Hope the arrival of your stuff goes smoothly today Kim and the rain doesn't affect things too much.

Another grey, cloudy day here - the forecast says it should be sunny this afternoon so I look forward to that.  Most of the snow has gone now thank goodness.

We've still got some snow CC but just in little pockets.  I think there will still be a lot more higher up.   It snowed a bit here too both last night and this morning, but just flurries.

And they wonder why the British are obsessed with the weather!

In the words of Dixon of Dock Green "Evenin' All"   :D :D

Grey here too DJ - just so glad we got out in the sunshine yesterday.

Congrats on your freedom Hally - hope you enjoy it as you have certainly earned it.   Are they still on your Christmas card list ?  ;) ;)

I wish we could grow lime trees in our garden - I'd love to be able to go and pick fresh lemons and limes... I know our snow looks so wonderful for you down under but, to me, your climate is certainly very attractive, especially at the moment.

That sounds my sort of day ES.    :)

We've been out for a walk in the snow which was lovely.  The sun was really warm but I was really glad I had my walking poles as it was very slippery underfoot.    We walked along a local reservoir which was very scenic but the thought of sitting beside it without the 27 (slight exaggeration!) layers of clothing I had on makes me shiver.

So glad to hear you've safely arrived Kim - it must be very exciting to see the start of a new life.   Hope you enjoy every minute of it.

Morning all, and evening CC and Katya. Happy Easter to you all who are, ahead of UK.
Must go and change the clocks to British summer time, an hour forward so will be jet lagged for days. Would prefer BST all year round.

I wish I'd seen this last night.  For some reason both of us totally forgot about putting the clocks back and I only realised it when I saw the time on my computer.   If it hadn't been for that we'd still be behind  ;D ;D    I'm blaming our advancing age - makes me shudder to think what we'll forget next  :o :o

Morning CC.... there seem to be so many threads that people post in that I'm never sure where I should be  ;D

It's a glorious sunny day here but still not enough sun to melt all the snow away.   Very pretty outside.   I think today will be a lazy day for us with no plans.  I like those sort of days  ;) ;)

Sorry, I've only just noticed your question JulieO.  Yes, it is very crusty - more crusty than I seem to be able to manage on my sour dough loaf.

We had it again for lunch today and it was a bit dry so I think it may keep less well than standard bread.   OH had it with cheese for lunch yesterday (I was out lunching with a friend) and he said it went really well with cheese.

Morning all.
I can quite understand the weather getting to you CC - bed with hot water bottle is the best place at the moment.  ;)

For one brief moment the sun shone here this morning and it was very beautiful as there is still a lot of snow around although much less than before.   I did manage to get out yesterday and did a huge food shop so we are well stocked up.   I just wish I knew when this cold weather was going to end.  :'(

Well it's snowing here again today and I am utterly fed up with it.   Yesterday the pipe on our outside tap burst and water was gushing out and forming an ice rink.   Luckily our builder was nearby and he came to the rescue fairly quickly.

Thanks CC.  My friend never made it to lunch but OH is working from home so we had the soup and bread ourselves.   He really liked the bread.   I loved the taste but found it a little bit too sweet so will probably cut back on the sugar next time.

It turned out to have a great texture and I'll certainly cook it again.
