Hello all.

Really glad it was such a perfect day for the christening Uni - it will be a day you'll remember for ever

Hope everyone's ailments are improving with the weather.   Make the most of it - my pessimism tells me it's not going to last  :-\

Brother-in-law turned up yesterday with his Thai wife and 2 young kids.  He had invited himself at very short notice (I had previously tried to get him to commit to a date to come up here but he never replied) so we had to cancel things to fit him in.  I asked him what type of food they ate and he said anything but not too spicy.   So I cooked a bolognese sauce as children like spag.bog don't they?    Turns out they have decided to stop eating beef and pork (bang goes the ham sandwiches for lunch) but he never thought to tell me.   I cooked an emergency non-chilli chick-pea curry which, even though I say it myself, was very tasty.   Bro-in-law ate very little of it and sort of turned his nose up.   His lovely wife had 2 helpings though so she's still in my good books  :D

Sorry for venting my spleen but I'm trying not to rant at OH about his brother as it's not fair on him. :-)) :-))

Sorry to hear that you're not 100% DJ - hope you can fight it off.

I used to crotchet a long time ago and thought it much better fun than knitting as it grew much more quickly.  Maybe I should take it up again.

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes.   Feeling almost back to normal and visitors are coming tomorrow so no food panic.  Mind you, we've a heap of beetroot and pomegranate salad as I was taking some of that with me today.

That doesn't sound good CC - is it the bad weather that caused the fault in the first place?   Glad to hear you have a generator so at least you can get some power but it must be annoying not knowing when the next strike will hit.

Hello all.   Thanks so much for your good wishes.   I am feeling heaps better today - it was a weird kind of bug with no real symptoms other than feeling totally washed out.    Sounds like I got off easily compared to you CC.   A friend of mine had some sort of mix of chest infection and sickness bug and lost 9 lbs because she didn't eat for a week.   There seems to be so many bugs around at the moment.

We've had to abandon the trip to see family as OH is now feeling under the weather.   Still unsure whether we will get visitors here or not - if they are not coming then I'm going to be over-run with food.  :D

Morning/evening to one and all..

Glad to hear you're feeling better CC - I seem to be fighting something off myself as I felt ghastly yesterday and went back to bed and slept for most of the day.   Feeling better today but still not fighting fit.

I hope it clears up as we have a big family gathering 2 hours drive away tomorrow and then some of them are coming back here for a few days....  :o :o

I'm sorry I've only just read about your DH DJ.   What a journey you are on and I do hope it is not too bumpy a ride.

Thinking of you  :-*

So glad you had a better night's sleep CC.   Let's hope it's a sign that things are on the mend.

Morning everyone.

That waistcoat is amazing Uni - I'm speechless in admiration for you that you did it without a pattern.   Have you thought of setting up a fashion business ?  ;)

I hope you get an appointment quickly CC.   There seems to be so many bugs lurking around.  A friend had the novovirus together with a chest infection and lost 9 lbs.   That's one diet I hope not to be going on  :D

Hope everyone has had or will have a good day.   I'm going to try and tick loads of odd things off my list and just hope that more odd things don't get added...

Sorry you're still feeling rough CC.  Have you tried hot lemon and honey (diluted with water or whisky, your choice!)?

Morning/evening all.

Hope you're feeling better CC.

That article is so depressing DJ - at the moment I'm reasonably happy because we're getting a fair amount of sunshine even though it is bitterly cold.   I'm not so happy with the thought of it being a bit warmer but rainy next week.   I do feel so sorry for all the farmers as it is hard enough for them when the weather is ok.

Thanks for that link Gillian.   It's a great list of recipes from the UK Thermomix Team but that isn't a discussion forum like this here is...  ;)
