Cakes / Mary Berry's Victoria Sponge
« on: March 31, 2013, 12:36:53 pm »
I've just made this, using the FEC recipe as a guide for the order of doing things and Mary's ingredient quantities.  I followed the advice to use the butterfly to whisk the mixture after mixing the egg, sugar and fat and before adding the flour and the results look amazing.  I haven't tasted any yet but if it tastes like it looks it's a winner.  It's risen beautifully.
Fingers crossed for the tasting now!

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Recipe books
« on: March 17, 2013, 06:02:53 am »
Hi.  As a fairly new TMX owner I have the Fast and Easy Cooking and the FE Indian Cooking books.  I was given a list of other recipe books, many of which are Australian in origin (I'm from the UK).
Are they *very* Australian - by that I mean do they have ingredients that I wouldn't be able to find in the UK?  The Healthy Eating one sounds interesting but if I can't make some of the recipes, it might be a waste of money.

Hoping someone can help.  Thanks in advance.

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Thermomix cream
« on: March 16, 2013, 06:32:22 am »
Apologies if this has been answered else where - I have done a search and couldn't find anything so I hope this is the right place.

In Fast and easy Cooking there's a recipe for Thermomix cream.  Does anyone know if it freezes OK?
Many thanks

Chit Chat / What do you call him/her/it?
« on: March 15, 2013, 07:46:17 pm »
I'm just under three weeks into being a Thermomix owner and already I don't know how I ever managed without her (yes, definitely a 'her').
I've named her Thermione (being a big Harry Potter fan) and I wondered what names others have given to their Thermomixes (or should that be 'Thermomixi'?)

Questions? Technical Issues? The Survival Guide / Coconut milk/cream.
« on: March 09, 2013, 09:07:06 am »
I've had a go at this as described on p19 of Fast and Easy Indian Cooking.  It's all gone well except that the results have separated into a thick layer at the top and what looks like coconut water underneath.  Is this right?  Do I need to mix the two back together again?
If someone can advise I'd be very grateful.  Thanks

Introduce Yourself / Well, I've been and gone and done it . . .
« on: February 21, 2013, 07:48:27 pm »
. . . bought a Thermomix today, I mean, after thinking about it for four or so months.  It's being delivered on Monday and I am ridiculously excited.  Thanks for the demo, Leonie, it was fun.   :)

Introduce Yourself / Hello
« on: September 18, 2012, 06:43:26 am »
Hello, everybody.  I'm from South East England and I joined at the weekend.  I don't have a Thermomix yet but I'm very, very seriously considering getting one and am hoping that reading in these forums will help me to come to a final decision.

Thanks in advance for the help and advice.   :)
