Cakes / Re: Banana Cake with cream cheese frosting – with photo

Best banana cake I have made ever, and no yucky banana mashing equipment to clean up at the end. Works really well with cream chees icing!

Chit Chat / Re: Varoma Demo

There's a fridge magnet too? Still waiting for my FSA cookbook, not happy Jan in this regard, had my demo on the 28th of august, keep hearing the books have sold out- not really good enough in my opinion. Don't launch a new demo without enough books! Feeling very let down by my consultant/head office.

Thanks for those ideas, I have loads of fowlers bottles, but joint ownership with my mum means I can't gift them away easily! Will try the local salvos

Not sure if i have posted in the right spot her, but just wondering if anyone knows of a good place to buy sauce bottles in southern Tasmania. I am planning some nice sauces for Christmas gifts, and hoping to buy some good looking matching bottles to put them in. We don't eat much sauce here (except tomato in plastic bottles), so don't have many empties!
thanks
Tammy

Introduce Yourself / Re: Hi everyone, I'm writing a Thermomix cookbook
« on: October 16, 2010, 11:38:14 pm »
Ohhh an iPad app makes me happy, I would like to see a book that includes a "whole meal" approach as in the main dish and the side dishes. As a working mum, being able to do everything at once is important to me. If you have ever seen the tupperware stack cooker recipe book, you will appreciate what I mean. Waiting  excitedly now

Suggestions and Complaints / Re: Disapointed with my Thermo
« on: October 10, 2010, 10:16:33 pm »
We had our best soup yet the other night, even thoughit came about because of a stuff up. Made the buritos from the meat on the menu cookbook, and started out halving the recipe as i only had one can of beans. Got distracted by children, and added the full quantity of water. The 'sauce' was soup texture, so I then added a tin of baked beans- still too thin so I added the chicken to the soup and turned the burittos into casa dia and served them on the side. My husband commented on what a great soup i had made- very flavoursome! I was glad my disaster worked out ok.  ;D good to hear you have had some successes wapred!

My Mum says that the apricot chicken in the Oz recipe book is lovely, but I can't get the proper ingredients here.  That's another one to try.

If it is the apricot nectar that is the issue, I don't use it, as I have a pantry full of preserved apricots (like canned apricots). I use the syrup from them in the first part of the recipe, and then make up the weight with the fruit halves, works just as well and yes this is a yummy recipe. Sorry to hear that Wapred isn't happy, I say stick with it too!

Bread / Re: Bagels - sooooo easy & delicious!
« on: September 29, 2010, 12:02:39 pm »
Ohh, so excited to find these, have been craving them since coming home from NY. The NY who served them to us called the fish lox, to me it just seamed like smoked salmon, not like the gravlax I have had in restaurants. They added white onion slices to the cream cheese, yum! Ohh the memories.... Can't wait to try the recipe

Chit Chat / Re: What made you buy your Thermomix?

Great thread, interesting read. I was excited about what TMX would allow me to hide in food. I have a 9 yo DS who has Aspergers syndrome. Feeding him can be very difficult, as he dislikes new textures and  flavors. When I saw a machine that could make sorbets and fresh juices using whole fruits, I was hooked. We love it for bread and pizza dough, haven't bought a takeaway pizza for months, and am really excited that I can make some really advanced things like hollandaise  sauce and they work! Couldn't imagine life without it now

Wish I had read this thread before making! Totally loved this pudding, but would have been even better in muffin tray. Definitely a new family favourite.
