Hahaha! Someone just posted a comment under my recipe about how unhealthy it is to be serving toddlers cheese all the time!  Um, anyone with half a brain knows not to serve cheese for breakfast lunch and dinner, but it certainly comes in handy when trying to get them to eat certain vegies.

Here's the direct quote

Quote
Why does just about every toddler recipe contain cheese?  This is the flavour that the kids are tasting and then get used to eating.  Eating cheese is not a healthy option.  Toddler food can be made tasty, appealing and nutritious without having to resort to adding cheese to everything

I especially love the bit about 'cheese is not a healthy option'!  Um, like everything we eat, it's all good in moderation.

Do you think I should bother making a reply comment?

I would not have bought one if I hadn't seen it first.  Lots of people I know who now have one were unconvinced about how good a machine it was before they had seen it.

My Mum is my consulant and I know she doesn't pressure people to buy.  She knows that people aren't likely to spend $2000 there and then and expects that most people will come back to her in 6-12 months to buy it.

Maybe because I've seen how positive the party sales scheme has been that I'm so supportive of it.  Unfortunately it's not a flawless approach as evidenced by some stories here, but if done well I think it has its merits.

My DH actually went into the office in Balcatta and asked if he could just 'buy' one as a surprise for me but they said no and he had to give them my number to organise it all

My Mum has had several sales where a husband has organised one as a surprise birthday or Christmas present for his wife and there's been no problems.  She's just done the delivery demo and the 'party' at a later date.

why oh why did I not see this earlier!  I felt like choc chip cookies the other day so just made the ones from the EDC book.  They were alright but not the greatest.  They also didn't flatten out like to look like the ones in the picture.

Will definitely be making these ones next time I have a hankering for choc chip!

I guess they would rather have 2 or 3 new people hear about tmx (and possibly buy) than bother with selling cookbooks and the like.  I mean, that basically is their whole strategy, and the reason why you have to have a demo when initially buying in order to receive your thermoserver and other bonus.  It's all about selling the machines and I dare say they're not too worried about some people selling bits and pieces on ebay, because that's not their bread and butter.

Thanks everyone, I'm feeling quite pleased with myself as I did think long and hard about what would be a good entry.

I am thrilled for you AliRo that you have won another Bowl and Blade set - so handy - will that be your second or your third?

nope, just had the bowl that came with my thermie and now I've got my spare bowl set  :)  Looking forward to how much easier it will be having that spare bowl.  My Mum is very jealous because she's been wanting one for ages!

Thanks everyone  :)

oh yeah, they're good for all ages and actually quite more-ish!  But great as a toddler food because they don't know that they're eating broccoli  :D

22
no, I doubt it.  I would say they narrowed it down to a few that they liked and then tried them.  Can't imagine them eating all the puree stuff!

Here's a link to the recipe over on the recipe community  http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/recipes/broccoli-nuggets/49214

I won!  Yay, so excited!  Had a call from the office and apparently everyone in the office was enjoying my recipe very much this afternoon.  So there you go, they did make the recipe themselves ;)

A company like Voerwork is unlikely to give anything away for no return?

I figured that the reason for the comp was to get some more recipes under the baby food banner as they had next to no recipes on there.  If a potential tmx buyer was a mum with a baby or toddler and told how great the tmx was for stuff like that, then went to website and saw nothing there, it may put them off buying.

25
Someone else has asked about the comp on the facebook page and this was their answer

'Our recipe development team are testing the recipes and we will be announcing today!'

So I guess we'll see!  At least its good to know though that they're actually testing the recipes

When I looked at all the entries, I did wonder how on earth they could judge it.  There were no guidelines as to what recipes would be judged by and the differences between a pea and broccoli mash and broccoli nuggets (or chicken skewers  ;) ) is huge - how on earth can you compare them.

I will laugh if a mash recipe wins  ???

I agree.  When I looked through all the recipes I thought yours were great entries and giving me some good competition  ;)  But yeah, a mash recipe is a bit rediculous, however the category on the website is stated as 'baby food' not baby AND toddler food, so it may very well be a mash recipe!

Yeah, I was the person who asked on facebook.  I think it's pretty slack of them to be honest.  What did they expect?  A dozen entries?  If you run a comp and specify an end date, then you should stick to that end date.

Obviously the comp had it's desired effect as they now have about 6 or so pages of baby and toddler food recipes, instead of the 7 that they had to start with!

Chit Chat / Re: Thermomix and Kitchen aid - does anyone own both?
« on: August 14, 2012, 01:36:03 pm »
I have found baked goods can be a bit hit and miss and seems only work ok with certain types of things.  I often do it the old fashioned way depending on what it is.

Having said that, I personally don't understand what all the fuss is with a kitchen aid.  Mixing cakes and cookies takes about two minutes and I can just do that with my hand mixers.  It's not like I have to stand there for an hour trying to get it just right.  It would probably be more useful if you were doing bread doughs etc as well, but the tmx does a good job of those.

If I was to get a stand mixer I would probably just get a cheaper brand one seeing as I already have the tmx.  I don't doubt that the kitchen aid is a superior product to others on the market, but if I'm just going to be beating eggs and sugar I don't think I would need anything really robust.

yeah, it was alright, but I already have the 2.2 litre one and I rarely use it.  Plus, I love $200 more than I love the oval server!  :D

There's still quite a bidding war going on on the other two.  I decided that $200 was more than enough, I would feel like I was totally ripping them off if they paid more!

so, I decided to put my new oval thermo server up for sale on ebay.  Given how high the other bidding was going I decided to put a buy it now price on of $200 plus postage.  It sold within half an hour!  Crazy!  Wonder how much the other ones will go for?
