Recipe Book Recipe Reviews / EDC Cauliflower soup review
« on: April 11, 2012, 09:57:03 am »
I couldn't find a review of this, although I am sure there must be lots of people who have made it!

Cauliflower Soup
EDC
The only changes I made were to use 1/3 broccoli as I didn't have enough cauliflower, and I used 1/2 milk and 1/2 water to increase the calcium content.
I score it 5/5, delicious, thick and would be perfect instead of a bechamel!

I bought mine nearly two years ago. I heard about them online, and did lots of research before going to a demo.  I ordered one the next day, only because I told my husband I wouldn't buy one at the demo!

I was convinced by healthy, homemade food without the time, inconvenience and mess!  Also I had a baby and a toddler at the time, and was constantly ruining dinner because someone did a poo, then they'd fight, then someone would want feeding- I would forget to stir dinner, or take it out of the oven!

Now 2/3 sisters have one, an aunt, and about 20 of my friends!  I should have been a consultant, but no time to spare :)

Recipe Name: Balti Chicken with coconut cream (need to make Balti paste first, pg 18)
Book Name:Indian cookbook
Tweaking details: None
Review: It was bland :(  Both my husband and I thought it had potential, but was missing something.  A shame as we LOVE the Tikka paste, and had high hopes for this one.  The recipe doesn't say to marinate the meat in the paste, so I think this would help.  I felt in at least needed onion and garlic for a bit more flavour.  Have lots of paste left so will experiment again and see if I can improve it.  Will also try just using it in a Balti curry (alss pg 108)
Score: (out of 5*)  As is, 2/5

I thought recipe books so I can justify all the money I spent on them!  I cook recipes from the forum most of the time :)

Chit Chat / Recipe review challenge....
« on: August 18, 2011, 01:07:08 am »
I have so many TMX cookbooks, but I only like making recipes I have seen reviewed (and tweaked) on here.  So, I was thinking, it would be fun if a bunch of us agreed to make an unreviewed recipe this fortnight, and report back.  Anyone keen?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 2nd bowl and blade set- definitely get one!  I wish it had come with an extra spatula instead of the steaming basket and butterfly though!

Just made these :)  Yummy, but my jam sank to the bottom so weren't as pretty as the picture!
Would definitely make again!
