Title: Apple and Cinnamon Toasties
Post by: Chelsea (Thermie Groupie) on October 14, 2010, 10:11:00 am
These toasted wraps make a yummy breakfast, lunch or snack anytime of the day!

Makes 6 Toasties

Ingredients:

6 wraps - check out this (http://fulllittletummies.blogspot.com/2010/09/filling-tummies-with-yummy-wraps.html) recipe
3 tbsp cream cheese - room temperature
3 green skinned apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
50g water
1 tsp rapadura or organic raw sugar
2 tbsp sultanas
pinch ground cinnamon

Method:

Make wraps and spread them out on a flat surface to cool.

Place the apples, water and rapadura into TMX bowl and cook for 7 minutes, 100 degrees at reverse speed 1 (adding sultanas and cinnamon in the last minute of cooking).

Preheat sandwich press, George Foreman grill or a fry pan.

Spread the wraps with the cream cheese (half a tbsp roughly on each) and with the slightly cooled apple mixture. Don't spread all the way to the edge.

Fold opposite sides in (the sides and then the top and bottom) to completely enclose the filling in a little parcel.

Cook for several minutes (until golden brown) in a press or grill with the folded side underneath. Turn after 2 minutes if using a fry pan.

Enjoy!

I will hang my head in shame as I say this, until today I had never tasted a wrap. I was shopping and I was persuaded to try one with salmon and beetrot in. It was delicious so now I want to make my own.
Thanks Chelsea, I have printed off your recipe from your blog.

They are really easy to make Cookie and very handy if you run out of bread. Have fun!  :)

Oh yum!!! My kids would surely love these.
though have to admit wraps are the one thing I don't make myself. We use 60+ a week and it's more than I can imagine coping with so I've never started, lol.
Always do savoury fillings but a lovely change to do a sweet filling.

You should give it a try one day Zan.  When you get on a roll it is amazing how many you can make.  I can make a double batch of 16 in about 10 minutes now.  They are really lovely and cut out all of the preservatives in the bought ones.  :)

P.S - I should clarify that I use two frypans on the stove top at the same time when making wraps and that is why it is so super quick.  They only need a little wipe out at the end with a damp cloth (they just get a little dusty with flour) so it is no hastle to use two.

Thanks Thermomixer.  We loved the Chimichangas and they were very easy. I would like to post the recipe on the forum as well as my blog.  I think they should probably go in the mains section but am not really sure?  ???  :)

Put them in mains - if someone complains we can move them.  ;)

I do plan on trying one day but with 3 young children (one full time), a business to run and the amount they consume I don't think I could find the time to make them all. But 16 in 10 mins sounds good. We'd still be looking at an hour for a weeks worth, lol.

Hi Tessa.  I haven't tried making them in advance sorry. I think they would probably go soggy with the stewed apple inside, but perhaps it would be worth saving one to try the next day.  :)

Sorry Chelsea, i meant the wraps by themselves so if i made the wraps used half for the toasties would the wraps keep well for the next day unfilled? or even just be nice for dinner later in the evening?

Oh sorry Tessa.  Yes because of the oil content the wraps keep soft and pliable for a couple of days.  :)
