In the Mix, recipe review. Fig Syrup P. 209
« on: March 11, 2012, 11:09:05 pm »
I should have known better.!!!  Today i made the fig syrup.  I made the recipe exactly as per recipe and it produced 1 dessertspoon of syrup.  The recipe was attractive as the residue could be used in muffins. However the result was a very nice fig chutney,  1 cup,  so all is not lost.  This is the second recipe that i have made from this book that doesn't work. the other was the Falafel.

That's rather disappointing. Lots of work for 1 dessertspoon of syrup. :'(
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I ended up with a delicious fig syrup when I glacéed some figs. I've got heaps!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
