Iced Peach Tea
« on: January 22, 2010, 10:57:02 am »
My son gave me the challenge of replicating his favourite commercial iced peach tea.

Here's my results;

2 litres boiling water  poured over 6 green tea tea bags, cool.

In Tmx weigh 200grams sugar and pulverise 10 seconds speed 7.

add six chopped peaches and blitz 10 seconds speed 7.  Add 1 tray of ice cubes and bring up to speed 9 for 20 seconds.  Add 500grams cooled green tea and mix 10 seconds speed 3.  pour the contents of the tmx into the remaining green tea and stir.  You can strain if you wish but we liked drinking the fruit pulp in it.

Good work - certainly a thirst quencher.  ... and the fibre is the best part.

Thanks The Crone - my DH has been suggesting that I try to replicate this too!  Think I could use tinned peaches? don't always have fresh ones on hand.

Now....how to do the lemon tea version.....  :-\ :-\  :)

Ok, I just tried the recipe with tinned peaches and it was a bit blah tbh.  Added some lemon juice and that improved it.

Tried it next with 3 fresh peaches and a tin of peaches, much improvement :)

Solution may be to freeze peaches in airtight bags???

Thanks for trying for me Crone :) - will grab some peaches when I can and freeze (thanks Karen :)) to use for this.  Did you leave the skin on in the recipe? Ta

Would it be any good with normal tea bags, or does it have to be green tea?

Made this today to take to our Australia Day lunch.  It was delicious and very easy.  A great drink to take to anything where it's BYO drinks.  It was quite thick and pulpy compared to bought iced tea, but to me that adds to the experience.  No waste, all the goodness.

Oh I'm glad you liked it!  DH likes me to strain it for him but I like the pulpiness

Just made this recipe today and it was the best peach iced tea ive ever had. I didnt crush the ice and just served it strained with lemon slices and ice cubes.

Good to hear.  Need to wait for our peaches in Australia.  The trees have just lost their blossom.

We had some peaches that were on their way out so we made this today. We didn't have any green tea and so used it with normal black tea. DH thought it could do with being a bit thinner so we have added some sparking mineral water and that is good too. DS9 prefers it without the mineral water.

Either way its yummy!

And just as I was thinking we won't get any more peaches at a reasonable price, today we did. Yeah. I only made half quantity and it was delicious. I left it unstrained as I love that pulpy texture. DS9 who doesn't eat peaches had a large glass diluted with water and would drink it again. There were lots of suggestions of mango iced tea, lemon iced tea and berry iced tea to try in the future.
