Recipe review Cottage Pie UK T5 basic cookbook Pge 154
« on: November 28, 2014, 09:46:15 am »
I made the cottage pie adhering strictly to the recipe and directions of the TM5 Basic cooking UK. I can tell you that it was all terribly disappointing. The mincemeat was bland and following the mixing on speed 7 for 15 seconds became nearer to meat paste than minced meat. The potato mash certainly tasted nice but became a mixture of glutinous sauce with uncooked lumps. The picture I took looks inviting but this was down to the shavings of cheese that I liberally put on top before baking.
I think that onions need to be fried and some sort of beef stock gravy added to mince to make it tasty. The raw potato cut into one cm slices were a bit scary because they were put in the bowl with the whisk. I thought that the whisk might get damaged but fortunately it did not. I suspect that as they were cooking some of the potato was complete but not all and therefore you ended up with it looking like a thick sauce with raw lumps in. I cannot believe that this recipe and method was tested for the TM5! >:( This is one recipe that I will not be repeating and will stick to my tried and true old fashioned method.

What a jolly nuisance.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
