Rice cooker/slow cooker combo
« on: September 30, 2014, 06:55:17 am »
Hi all.  :)  My son and his wife need a new rice cooker and were also thinking of getting a slow cooker, with his wife going back to work shortly. I told him I have read some posts somewhere here about people who seem to have a rice cooker/slow cooker combo.  Can those of you who have them and use them regularly, and have any helpful comments (good or bad)  on your types of machines let me know. Cheers Monica

Hi Monica,
I have the New Wave 6-in-1 and I really like it.
But to be honest, I prefer my good old Sunbeam simple slow cooker and cheap Breville rice cooker. You may want to think about a separate rice cooker so they can serve rice with their slow cooked meal (or they could cook the rice on the stove top/microwave/thermie).
I look forward to reading other people's opinions :)

I have a SC and use the TM for rice or extra vegies. No help from me either. :-\

I have a NU WAVE 5 IN 1.
slow cook in that, and rice in the tmx

LOVE THEM BOTH
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

I have the new wave 6 in one, have only cooked rice in it once, over cooked mush. I prefer to cook my rice I the Thermomix.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

I have the same. Really enjoy the pressure cooking side and slow cooking but also HATE the rice cooking function. It is still a worthwhile piece of equipment. I have an old large rice cooker for crowds ( often have extended family meals) and thermie for just us.

I have Nuwave 5 in 1 which I love mostly for pressure cooking, then slow cooking. I use tmx for my rice.

Thanks everyone for your input, I will pass the comments on to my son, they don't have a TMX so getting the two individual items seems the way to go.   :)
