Coconut Rough - keeping it simple page 158
« on: August 13, 2014, 02:34:34 am »
This was the first thing I tried in the book.  Shows you I have a sweet tooth.  I just love coconut rough!

If you are looking for the traditional coconut rough taste, this recipe will disappoint as it is not sweet (only 20 g sugar).  It had a "dry" not creamy texture.  Perhaps more sugar or use sweet cocoa/chocolate?  A dab of butter?

I was amazed how the dry ingredients converted to a "melted" mixture!  Yes, the bowl did get warm.

I think I like the traditional - the sweet tooth thing  ;D

I will try again and perhaps try the other variations on the recipe.

Easy and quick recipe.

I made 1/2 quantity of this recipe to use up some shredded coconut.  I have to agree with Olga, this was very disappointing and not something I would do again.  I had a few pieces to see if the taste grew on me but then decided it wasn't improving.  Sorry Tenina, traditional recipe for me too.

That's a pity Judy.

I can't think of anything to do with it Denise but now you've asked the question I have an idea. Could try it dissolved in hot milk perhaps and see how it tastes.

OK, been off and done it.  Heated 4 pieces in milk in the TMX then whipped.  Quite acceptable, tastes quite nice actually and now I won't have to throw it out.  Thanks for making me think outside the square. Xx
