Quirky Cooking - Nasi Goreng pg 110
« on: May 27, 2014, 01:29:35 am »
Made this for dinner last night and we all enjoyed it.  In my rush as I was late for an appointment I didn't put in the chilli powder in the sauce. I think that it definitely needed some so will make sure it goes in next time. I also would next time put in either some peas or spinach. Definitely a meal I will make again.

This was nice and made two thermoserver a full. Eggs were a pain to cook evenly in the varoma though.

I adore this dish, what a taste sensation!

My 5yo daughter didn't like anything but the rice but she's going to have to learn to love it because this is definitely going to be cooked regularly.

I had trouble with the eggs too, I'd run out of baking paper so had a go with a baking sheet instead - doesn't work ;)

Hmmmmm, my eggs were uneven too! Glad I'm not the only one who had a bit of trouble.

BUT... yummo! Loved this recipe. I didn't have all the vege ingred, so popped down the vege patch and put a heap of tatsoi leaves instead of cabbage.

I bbq-ed a steak and sliced it and served the rice with steak on top, with the eggs and more sauce. Miss 12 loves fried shallots, so a good sprinkle of them on top and it was a hit.

Will make this one again.

I made this tonight, absolutely delicious.

I didn't do the eggs in the varoma, I emptied fry pan of oil after frying chicken and did them in frypan.

Halved recipe to suit our family of 4.

I made this for dinner last night.Beautiful flavours.
Next time I will make sure I use boiling water to add to the jug to cook the rice.I needed the extra five minutes for the rice to cook in the TM5.
I did take note of people problem cooking the eggs so cooked the eggs like Jo does for her Fried  Rice recipe. And the fact I'm not a great fan of fried eggs. ;)

I think it is time I got Jo's book out and did a few more of her recipes. We don't like fried eggs either CC but do like them done as Jo's fried rice.

Makes so much!!
Served on a large platter.

Flavour lovely, but I was seeking a little more heat.
Will add a whole chilli with veg next time & possibly a smidge extra in the sauce.
Add through a chopped continental cucumber...lovely addition.

.........EAT CAKE!
