Replacement for gluten free flour

I am about to make Quirky Jo's carrot cake but will be using plain flour instead of gluten free.  Do I need to make any changes to anything or can I make a straight substitution?  Thanks

Most carrot cake recipes using plain flour have baking powder as well as bi-carb Marina.  :)

Thanks, CC ... so, do you think if I used the same quantity of plain flour plus, perhaps, 1 1/2 tsp baking powder that would work?

I would try it Marina. ;D
I've quickly looked on the forum at other recipes and they tend to use 1tsp of both bi-carb and baking powder but Jo's recipe has more carrots and flour so you will probably need that extra 1/2tsp. ;)

LOL I think this is the first time Ive heard of someone asking how to substitute gluten into a gluten free recipe!  Looking forward to hearing how it worked, fingers crossed for your hubby :)

Well, it's done.  I haven't tried it on DH as yet, though.  I made one cake and 9 small muffins / cup cakes ... and I have eaten 3 cup cakes and am still here to tell the tale, so the  1 1/2 tsp baking powder worked.  It is a really tasty, light cake.  I am very pleased with it.  The only thing is that the muffins stuck to the paper cups so perhaps I would grease the muffin tins and bake them directly in the tin next time.  The recipe is well worth trying.  The only changes were a direct substitution for the flour, the extra baking powder, I used tinned pineapple (the 440 gm tin, drained, came to 300 gm fruit).  I also ran out of walnuts so used almonds and cashews to bring the nuts up to weight.

Marina, I find that greased individual silicon cup cake mould work well for recipes that tend to stick to the paper cup cake wrappers.  I always use the silicon ones for honey joys now as I was having trouble with the paper sticking to them.

Thanks, ES, I don't often make cupcakes / muffins and this has never happened to me before, but I will certainly look at getting some silicone cup cake moulds in.

Silicone cup cake moulds are also great in the varoma or air fryer.
