Review of vegetarian pasties - quick fix every occasion Page 61
« on: September 06, 2013, 11:30:48 am »
Made the vegetarian pasties tonight and they were great, the mixture made 20 pasties in total (adults ate 2 each and kids 1 each for dinner with a salad). Although the recipe suggests to freeze the filling and make up when wanted I just prepped the whole batch at once as they will be easier to pull out the freezer that way.

I made this today, I didn't have any sweet potatoes so just added a little extra potato, really like the taste, still waiting for it to cool down, to make into pasties, here is a picture of the mixture :)

These are one of 'to make quickly' selections. They really do look tasty.

These were great. The taste was great, the texture was great. I just need to practise presentation! I found the mixture made more than 6 sheets of puff pastry, but that's great because I just put the extra in the freezer to make later as suggested in the book.

I made these tonight and the Tomato Sauce to have with them. The filling tasted delicious so I know they will be lovely.

I made these for tea last night and a couple left over for lunch today.
Easy, the filling was yummy.
Be good to make a couple of batches and freeze them uncooked for another day.

Made these today for lunch and they were nice. Were easy to put together and would be good to have in the freezer for a quick meal.

Like everyone else, I loved these pasties.  I always find triangles more fiddly than circles but it's certainly worth the effort. I was glad I made the mixture yesterday to simplify matters a little today.   I cooked them, ate 2 and froze the rest, too fiddly to go through that every time I want a few pasties.

I found sealing the edge of the triangles much easier if you hold down the the side of the pastry with your finger whilst going along with the fork which I dipped in water.  I found this sealed much better than a dry fork. I also needed to use speed 2, not speed 1 when cooking the mixture to ensure it kept moving.

I used puff pastry as my local Foodland still hasn't stocked butter puff pastry.

I made these yesterday for supper. We loved them.As I only bought 3 sheets of puff pastry I cooked 4 and froze 8.
With the leftover mixture I made these today.I used Cookie's Cream Cheese pastry.I cut 8 x 11cm pastry circles, put a heaped tablespoon of mixture in each, sealed the edges and baked for 20 minutes.
The baby one in the middle was the cooks :D

I's great that you made your own pastry and own shapes CC, they look lovely. Poor Louis missed out on the baby one because the cook got in first  :D
