Recipe for Apple Leather or Roll Up - One Crafty Mumma Blog
« on: August 09, 2013, 03:23:17 pm »
I needed some apples to use up and remembered that fruit leather or rollups needed apples. I tried the recipe that I found on this blog:

http://melissagoodsell.typepad.com/day_to_day/2013/05/how-to-make-fruit-leather-dehydrator.html

I don't have a dehydrator so put them in an oven on 80C overnight (~11 hours) with a wooden spoon in the door to keep it open.

My toddler came up and asked for one when she saw me cutting them up and tasting them in the morning. I also caught her later in the day sneaking up onto a chair and then the kitchen table in order to get more!

Here is a photo (it's got wrinkles in it from the baking paper contracting as it shrunk):

Made this for the current challenge, very tasty but not sure it is worth the effort when it takes 11 hours in the oven.  At least I can say I've tried it though. I did think it would be a bit thicker, it started out at 1 cm thick.
