I couldn't make these delicate enough, but the pullapart my effort created instead smells lovely while it's steaming:

I used most of these for bread and butter custard, steamed in the Varoma. It looked interesting with the colour contrast and was a useful option for using up the rolls, given that there are only two of us.

3/5 for the buns by themselves - that's mainly judgin my version of them, though.  I found the rcipe clear and I'm sure a better cook could produce a much more appealing outcome that I could.

Thank you, Kimmyh.  Not much like th illustration in the cookbook, though.  I'm glad you liked it.  The bread tasted well enough.

I made a half batch today and found them quite easy. My 2 year old called them cake so was delighted given that they aren't really sweet. The dough was the 'little ball' consistency but came together nicely.

The half batch was just enough.
