Quick Fix in the Thermomix - Lemon & Poppyseed Cheesecakes
« on: December 01, 2012, 04:54:23 am »
Made these today to take to a BBQ tomorrow.

The recipe was easy to follow and didn't take very long.  You do need to make these in advance as they need a minimum of 4 hours refrigeration before serving (mine will have overnight).

I didn't have the 6cm x 6cm dariole moulds so I used some oval moulds instead.  Due to their shape, I couldn't get all 8 to fit in the bottom of the Varoma so I had 2 sitting on the top shelf of the Varoma as well.  I covered both lots with a double layer of paper towel so water wouldn't drip back onto the cheesecakes (as per the recipe).

Compared to the photo in the book, I was a little light-handed with the poppy seeds.  I will add some lemon curd to the top of each tomorrow prior to serving.

Happy with the results so far but I guess it will all come down to how they taste.

Well these were a big hit at the BBQ I went to yesterday.

Before serving them I piped on some lemon curd and decorated with a raspberry or two.  Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of the finished product.

Everyone commented on how nice they were and many went back for seconds.  I ate way too much for mains so I only tried a little bit of one but would definitely make them again.

These little beauties are my new favourite dessert recipe! I bought some dariole moulds especially for this dessert, and I'm glad I did as I've found a few other recipes to use them. Beauty of them is, the 8 dariole mould I bought fit perfectly into the bottom of the varoma. It was meant to be! :)

Alyce's instructions were spot on! Follow it exactly and you cannot go wrong!

These tasted as good as the photo looks...maybe even better!

I served mine as suggested with lemon curd and, just for pure decadence with a swirl of berry coulis (EDC)

5/5

I cannot wait to make these again! And again! Guests will be totally impressed! They look so professional (but are secretly really easy!) :D

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book! Can you tell???  ;D

whats the capacity of your moulds?

Hi CreamPuff, sorry for not replying sooner. I just looked at the website and I can't actually see the capacity of them. I'd estimate maybe 150ml or so?????

They are called "Tomkin Dariol Mould 18/10 67x56mm"

Am I allowed to post the link to the store where I bought them?

I have made these for dessert tomorrow. They definetly have the wow factor yet are simple to make.  We have had a sample tonight of the spare one. Unfortunately I only made 7, my moulds were 100ml size ( the ones katie gave me in Adelaide).  They are creamy tasting, the Lemon flavour is lifted  by the Lemon butter.  Not an optional extra but a neccesity in my opinion. The poppy seeds add a delicious texture and are good for us. I couldnt get fresh ricotta as coles deli no longer sell it, i bought fresh and organic in a tub.  I think it made the mix a bit runnier when decanting into the moulds and hence displaced some poppy seeds from the bottom. Not an issue as they are served upright. Will add a photo tomorrow. 5/5 will make again.
