Mab, how cute.  Love the GC concerts. So much talent on display.
Picking up GS from school tomorrow. He had a choice, dropped off at home or to our place with hot Milo, potato Gems and a couple of games of pool with Ral. You can guess what he chose. , !

That sounds like fun Chookie.  The a/f is great for heating potato gems.

Chookie I'm not surprised that GS chose to go to your house.  I love it when the GC come to visit, we always have a lot of fun regardless of their age.

The nursing home held a Christmas in July celebration today - it confused the heck out of some of the oldies who had never heard of this event.  Poor kitchen staff fed about 35 of us a lovely roast lunch without an oven!  It broke down on Saturday and was only fixed this afternoon after the event.  Using lot of electric frying pans (who has one of those these days - well quite a few people still do apparently) they managed to serve up a beautiful meal.

Glad the Chirstmas in July celebrations work well Judy.  You were lucky that they had power as once again so much of Adelaide didn't have it!  We've been lucky here! Hope the wild weather didn't cause you any problems.

It hasn't been too bad down here Trudy but the skies opened up after I arrived home which was good timing.

Blimey Judy what a wonderful job the kitchen staff did to produce a dinner for the celebration of Xmas in July.

I feel sorry for the staff having to do their Christmas in July with no oven Judy. They are to be commended.
I still have my electric frypan and still use it.

I haven't used one for many years cookie but I do have Mum's out in the shed from when I emptied her unit.  It would be interesting to hear how many people do still use theirs and what they cook in them.

I still use mine too, used it today for pikelets. I also use it for toasted sandwiches as I can do 6 at once and a big breaky too. I used to do a roast in it when we were in our first home as it didn't have an oven.  We didn't realise until after we bought it and moved in!

We had one that belonged to DW's grandmother but it died a few years ago and we never replaced it.  We used to roast veggies in it and make pancakes. We have a small electric skillet in our city unit.

Today I used my waffle maker to cook zuchinni slice. I just made my usual zuchinni slice recipe and cooked it as waffles. I need to figure out something to make to add to this so it can make a meal. I am trying to think of something with pumpkin, maybe a mash or some sort of stewed pumpkin.

I am starting to feel like cooking again but I am too tired and busy when I get home from work.  :P

Well done cooking lunch for 35 in fry pans.
I loved my fry pan but it died many years ago. I often look longingly at the new ones, but resist .

I have fond memories of cooking in an electric fry pan although it hasn't been for many years. Great for all in one dinners, pikelets, toasted sandwiches as Bedlam said, even fried rice.

We had a Christmas in July Happy hour (21/2 hr) get together at our village where we live, drinks and finger food a plenty and a great chance to meet other residents.
Monday night we had a quiz night, held in the community room. We had over 100 residents turn up and our table of 8 won!  We each got to choose a prize. I picked a black wire basket filled with useful goodies, Vegetarian cookbook, bamboo salad bowl, silicone handled wooden spoon, 2 coffee mugs,2 tea towels, nice wooden photo frame. DH picked one with a Coles gift card, wine, edibles, a few other bits & pieces.
