Went to the Newcastle camping and caravan show today. Briefly caught up with Dijini from trublue traveling.

Mich that would be lovely.
Katj there is always so much to do before you move on.

We had planned to get away about 9. It's now 10.30 and we are still at home. We have never towed anything with the Red Terror and we are having trouble with the lights on the AVan. They were fine when we brought the AVan home but we towed it with DH's car. DH is busily trying to solve the problem. Hopefully we will get away eventually.

Hope this wee hitch (excuse the pun) doesn't hold you back too much.

Cookie your DH is so clever, he would have it figured out by the time you read this I'm sure.
Enjoy your few days away, I hope it's cooler wherever it is.

We got away about 12.30. We ended up swapping cars. DH thinks he must have done something with the light relays when he put the roo bar on my car. Instead of stopping home we transferred all the stuff to DH's car after checking the A van lights worked. We are now nicely set up in Busselton and the sea breeze is sort of coming in.
On the way down we saw the horrid fire that is out of control near Harvey. The smoke was pretty colours but the devastation wasn't. Poor fireys  fighting fires in 40+ degrees.

Here we are having a coffee about half way down. It's not that far from home to Busselton, about 220km.   You can spot the difference, the car is white with a tray, not red with a tub and a gold top.

Have a good time Cookie; we go down there a bit now that our daughter lives there.

Funny how we are all so different and then not so different. We don't use electric blankets in Perth and I don't like winter sheets although I gave in this year for DH. I also make my own Lux wool mix; found the recipe when I first left home and love it. We are sweltering here at the moment; it was 30 when I got up at 6am and looked on the pateo.

Hope it's a little cooler down there Cookie, although I suspect not, I spoke to my sister in Australind yesterday and they were sweltering like Perth.
The poor people in the Harvey area, being hot with 2 rounds of fires in as many months. I feel for the fire fires too Cookie, they do an amazing and very dangerous job in Extreme conditions.
I'm just trying to keep cool today, not much packing getting done.

We had an exciting evening. The power went off about 6.30/7. I had a shower in pitch blackness. Hopefully I didn't miss too many spots. It cooled down nicely in the evening and was lovely sleeping in the baby van.
This morning we left Busselton and drove down to Pemberton. We had lunch there, it was lovely and cool. We should have stayed there. We moved on to a place called Quinninup and an Eco Park. We are in a cleared patch of forrest. There are emus walking round and from the little black balls of manure on the ground there will be quite a few wallabies around later. There is a reasonable breeze blowing through every now and then.

This is why it's called an A van. As you can see its tiny.
