If I had $1500 to spend on food a month I wouldn't.

Someone I know (family of 5) told me she spent on average $650 per week! Needless to say I was shocked since we were a family of 5 at that stage and let me tell you my grocery bills were on average, $200 - $250 per week pre Aldi days. Now shopping at Aldi it varies from $100 - $120 a week to feed 3 people.

Judy I agree it was a very insensitive comment. I can only imagine how much packaged and junk food would go into the shopping trolley, and I'm sure there would be a lot of waste and they would surely be eating much bigger meals than you need to. We are fortunate that we have a lot more than many others, but I could never spend that amount on food each month, I've always watched what I spend on food and save wherever I can as well as reducing food wastage and buying minimal junk or packaged foods. Obbie, I assume you would need to eat at home all the time to go through that amount on purchased food. The way the comment was worded it was on groceries so wouldn't include eating out.

WOW Courton, I couldn't even imagine spending $650 that is just crazy.

Yep! You hit the nail on the head Gert! The family are huge eaters. Lots of red meat and lots of packaged food.

We buy chicken, fish, beef, pork, lamb in bulk, and still don't spend that much.
We do eat at home all the time though. No where decent up here to go..

As I've been working 6 days a week, DH did the shop this week. $136 - it included plants, weed and feed etc  from Bunnings.
Looks like I'm working to support DH's shopping habit  ;D

Love it.
My week away will be cheap. We will be eating out a few nights and that is all prepaid. We decided that if we aren't eating out we will pop down to the shops and just grab what we need for that night. They are very close to where we are staying.

Only $15 this week, spent the other $100 at Bunnings though. And we are going away for the weekend and losing the kids for two weeks. I'm also losing DH. So there will just be me! I'm thinking prawns and oysters for the week lol oh and marinated mussels.

I like your plan!

Sounds another great plan cookie you guys will have a fun time.

Bunnings seems to be the new Coles!

My cleaner came to,stay in my home and look after my dog while we were away. I told her to eat anything she wanted from the freezer and pantry and .........she did! I can't
even remember what was there but no matter I was cleaned out!  Excellent I can now be  selective about what I NEED to buy .
