This is adapted from RoboGourmet recipe. I like their recipes as they are uncomplicated and this one is not strongly Anchovy in taste. It is a delicious dip/spread.
40g. Anchovy fillets, drained
200g. tuna in oil.drained
200g soft butter.
Place all in TMX bowl and zap 15 seconds/ speed 7/
Serve with croutons or fresh bread.

Trudy - I have just made this Bess and I just wanted to tell you how much we liked it. It has a lovely texture and a great taste. Once again thank-you for the recipe.
Judy - Made this today after buying a small (80g) jar of anchovies but weighing them into the TMX I found I used almost all of them before the weight went up to 40g as per the recipe. I think it is slightly too salty, not overly so but just a tad. DH had a mate here at the time so he took home a small tub, Mum ended up with a tub and we still have heaps for ourselves. Of course, once refrigerated it goes really hard but it does have to be kept in the fridge surely?? I'll do what you suggested Chookie and have it on toast - do you think I could freeze some of it? They say normal pate freezes so I don't see why this one wouldn't.
Chookie - Judy I think you could freeze it.
How salty it is probably depends on the type of Anchovies you use, and remember that I did double those in the original recipe.
If you spread it on hot toast it melts nicely.
-
lovely chookie - you must have seen me today at the supermarket picking up that big jar of anchovies instead of the tiny tin ;D
-
Oh yum. I adore anhovies. Thanks for sharing, will definitely be giving this a burl! I always buy the big jar too, CP!
-
I'm still a tiny Tim but at least I will put them in something nowadays - it's a start.
This sounds interesting Chookie.

Judy, I love Anchovies but don't like tinned tuna. DH doesn't like Anchovies but doesn't mind Tuna. The interesting thing is that this tastes of neither, and I doubled the amount of Anchovies that were in the original . DH couldn't stop eating it. :-))
-
How magic is butter then if anchovies don't taste like anchovies and tuna doesn't taste like tuna ;) Did DH eat it all on his own or did you help him Chookie. How would it go for a baked jacket potato topping?
-
Judy, great on baked potato and on pasta. Had it on toast for breakfast. Better than Anchovette (pecks) and 1/3 of the price.
-
JD, we all know the magic of butter(specially round the hips). Must confess by passed the recipe Chookie ,until you said you couldn't taste the anchovies or the tuna, will have a go now.
I really enjoy both of your comments.thanks for sharing your knowledge and giving so much encouragement .

Thanks Chookie, sounds like this would be something we would enjoy!!

Probably 1/2 recipe might be enough, unless you have visitors or a DH like mine who got stuck right into it. ;D

We made this today but used mayonnaise instead of butter as we're dairy free, so so good! Thank you for sharing 😊

JJ, what a terrific idea.

Yes, easier to spread once refrigerated too.
