Title: Fajita Seasoning
Post by: quirkycooking on January 13, 2010, 12:30:12 pm
Here's a basic recipe for Fajita Seasoning from http://www.bigoven.com/158541-Fajita-Seasoning-recipe.html.

I add this to my fajita marinade, which changes depending on whether I'm using chicken or beef.  I'll post the marinade recipes in the sauces & marinades section.

1 1/2 teaspoon Cumin ground
1/2 teaspoon Oregano dried, crushed
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Red pepper ground
1/4 teaspoon Black pepper ground
1/8 teaspoon Garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon Onion powder

Ta QJ - wonder if you made it with fresh garlic and onion and then dried it would it keep - maybe freeze it?

I always add fresh garlic and onion to anything Mexican anyway, and if you do that, you could just leave out the dried ones.  BTW, I use smoked paprika and chilli powder for the 'red pepper'.  Forgot to add that.

Thanks for sharing Quirky, tried this out last night and was wayyyy better than the pre-made spice mixes i've purchased from supermarkets in the past.
