Is it worth trying to prevent the birds eating the fruit? Netting or fishing wire?

Good afternoon everyone.  It rained most of the night here and the garden is loving it.  Still cool and overcast with a few showers during the day.

For those of you with fruit trees and bird problems you have my sympathy.  There is nothing like home grown fruit & veg.  Sadly we don't have any fruit trees any more and only two tomato plants this year.

To be honest, for us it doesn't much matter so much at this stage as we are not depending on the harvest, but if we were relying on the fruit for preserving, etc., we would definitly look at netting.

Morning all.
Netting or building a cage is really the only way to protect your fruit. The joy of growing your own fruit is, in our case, no spray and totally organic.
However it is probably convenient and cheaper to buy bulk fruit when in season.
I bought a tray of Nectarines, $14 , about 5 Ks, have added home grown berries and green apples. All cooked together. Today will put through mouli and make jam. This will make about 12 large jars for about $20.
While in Barwon Heads, the Cafe where we had breakfast, were selling jam, 350 g, for $12.

Hi friends.
My goodness it's cold this morning here.DH said it was -7c in our back garden when he looked at the outside thermometer.Brrr no wonder it felt particularly when walking Chance.Although I was wearing gloves my hands were frozen Now warming them around a hot drink.
