I certainly added a layer of suntan on the back of my neck during the hour that I browsed the street fair cookie. The sun had a bite in it.

I don't enjoy that time of the year Denise, when you are still in darkness and want to get going on your walk.
We are having beautiful weather in Perth, not too hot yet and still cool enough at night to pull a cover up.

Good morning 18 here at the moment, top of 32, so another hot one.

Were  coming down to  Melbourne February, any places to recommend to stay. Seems like prices are going up as it will be valentines day.

it does feel like Xmas , we went to 3 Xmas get togethers last week and 3 coming up this  week

going out to lunch with sisters today too plan Xmas eve menu

Good morning friends, only expecting 27 here today.  The part of Christmas I like is all the catchup lunches with friends.  The part I don't like is that there are too many people out shopping!

It probably depends whereabouts you need to be? Personally, I can't recommend cabins in caravan parks enough! They're really good. There are a couple inside Melbourne inner city areas and are then accessible by public transport. For example, the Big 4 at Coburg (Melbourne Caravan Park).

As Katj said we are being spoiled with our weather. It is going to be 36 on Wednesday. That's a bit warm.

Robyn I can highly recommend The Grand Hyatt with the club extra in it. DD and I found we didn't buy any extra alcohol, or go out for coffee as much and could grab a light snack for dinner if we were full. However if you are taking the children they may not enjoy it as much as an adult.

Obbie, the only place we have stayed in Melbourne is at the Novotel St Kilda on The Esplanade so can't comment on any city ones.  We have stayed there the last 3 years in winter (this year for 2 weeks) and loved every minute of it.
 
It's practically across the road from Luna Park (if the kids are interested), though I haven't been in there so can't comment.  The trams run right out front to take you to the city etc and of course the lovely beachfront which I'm sure the kids would enjoy at that time of year.  There are lots of eateries nearby as well as what's available at the Hotel.  Absolutely love Melbourne and we hope to return again next July.  ;D

Obbie, decide if you want an apartment or hotel type accommodation .  We stay at the Clock Tower in Carlton when we go to Melbourne.  They have 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.  They will also set up a sofa bed for you. There are cooking facilities and a laundry.  Not that we use either.  We like the space and quick walk to the shops. There is a tram to the city a short walk away. 
Cookies suggestion of the Grand Hyatt is good if you want to be in the city.
Julie's suggestion is good but FitzroyStreet has been getting a bit of bad publicity of late. If you stick with the water front it would be ok.
Good luck, too many choices.
