After Eight Liqueur
« on: March 13, 2011, 06:09:31 pm »
Hi everybody,

Just got my Thermomix last Tuesday and I have been trying all sorts of things from the (Dutch) Thermomix book, this forum and the German Thermomix forum. I made this liqueur today, it's a recipe from the German Thermomix site. Since I could not find it here, I thought I would post it. If you all have it somewhere, or you don't want me translating stuff from the German site (www.rezeptwelt.de), please let me know. I did tweak it a bit, since the recipe asked for 500 ml Wodka and I thought it would be a bit too strong.

Ingredients:
50 gr sugar (I used organic sugar, learned a lot from Chelsea already...thanks for your lovely blog, Chelsea!)
200 gr After Eight chocolate
300 gr cream
300 gr Wodka

Put sugar in bowl, 10 seconds on Turbo.
Add the chocolates and the cream. 4 minutes 50 degr., on 1.
Add wodka and stir 10 seconds on 3.
Put the liqueur in a (clean) bottle and put it in the fridge.

I am enjoying a wee glass as I write this. Cheers!! ;)

Hi Jacq! This sounds sooo yum  ;) Thanks for the translation and I think I speak for others in saying we would welcome any recipes you would like to share with us  ;D ;D

The After Eight Chocolate - would that be a dark chocolate? 70% cocoa for example?

Thanks   :-*

Thanks Jacq - that sounds like something we must do.  I concur with Faffa_70, all recipes welcome on here and you are right, we don't have anything like that already. I took the view that the name of the chololate indicated it was not for children so figure Faffa's assumption is correct. Looking forward to more recipes from your part of the world.

Hi Faffa and Judydawn,

Sorry, thought After Eight chocolates were à worldwide brand. It's à dark chocolate, filled with mint. They're quite lovely to eat, and quite nice in à liqueur as well.

I Will keep trying the recipes from the German site as well and check whether I can find them here. If not, I Will translate them.

Hi ,  thanks for this fab recipe.  After Eight chocolates are a brand name for after dinner mints.  They are dark chocolate.  Yummmmmmm.

Jacq,  Made this today,  it is really YUMMMMMMM.  Cost about $13 to make 800g.  But as you only need a little it is well worth making.  Couldn't find the After Eight Mints,  so used other dark choc.  after dinner mints.   Worked well.   Will make again.

I made this last week and I really love it. In Holland liqueur is quite expensive, and this is cheaper to make, really yum and à non-existent flacons of liqueur here. :)

This looks fantastic. Has anyone made a homemade version of Bailey's? Thanks.
